Hey All,

Been seeing some amazing finds in the past week, but I've been super busy and haven't had time to post. Finished up 8 boxes of halves and 4 boxes of dimes last night. Nothing spectacular....about 5 five silver Roosies and about 10 40% halves (didn't really keep track this week). Best find was silver 2006 and 2007 proofs and two 1964's that look like proofs (same thickness and luster). Redbook doesn't say anything about 1964 proof coins, but does mention a "heavily accented hair" 1964 half. For you experts, is this what I have?

Thanks ~ Coincrawlin

Wow, those are REALLY nice. I would hang on to those, worth a good $5 over spot, especially in that condition. and yes they did make proofs but i believe no S mint mark back then...

Looks like a proof. The easiest way to check for the accented hair variety is to check the I in LIBERTY. On the accented hair version the little serif on the bottom of the I is shorter. Look at it with a magnifier and you should be able to tell. I've gotten one accented hair and 3 of the regular Proof 1964s from CRH. Either way, you did good!

this website has good pictures:

Yes those are proofs, I cant be 100% sure, but I know I have read about 1964 proofs. I think just in my 2011 redbook. It tells you how many proofs were minted in parenthesis next to the year and mint mark. Those coins are amazing, beautiful. I have that on my list to find in the wild for sure, I can only hope that the ones I find someday are in that great of shape.

I have a 64 proof set and the half looks just like that. There won't be a int mark on it.

Nice find :icon_thumright:
