Hey All,
I had to change a $20 at work today, and the machine is set up to give dollar coins. Mostly Sacs, but I also had 5 Susan B's in it. The weird part is that 2 of them had a gold wash on them. One was almost totally worn off, but you can tell that it had been there. The other is still in a very lustrous condition.
Anybody know anything about this? Was some company doing it and reselling to the public?
Just curious. I'll try to post a picture after I get home.
Thanks,
Ceejay

Yep... a number of companies, actually. Unfortunately, the gold-plated SBA's proved to be just about as unpopular as the regular ones. The other day one brought $1.04 on eBay:

So with the 20 cent insertion fee, and the 5.25% final value fee, plus the Paypal fee if they used it, this seller would have been better off buying a pack of gum with it...

I figured as much. Nonetheless, it is interesting enough for me to put in my "keeper" pile, especially since it only cost me a buck anyway. ::)
Thanks for the info!
