New to CRH, now I'm hooked!

Howdy fellers! Well, I tried my luck today at half dollars... Hit FOUR banks, and only one had any half dollars. They were all loose rolls as well, so I didn't have high expectations... I bought $800 of halves (all they had). I found 18 40% silver halves and one 1962 Benjamin Franklin half (which made my day!). Also found 170 Bicentennial halves (are those worth keeping?), a Sacagawea dollar, and a $0.50 piece from one of the Vicksburg Casinos. Gonna hit up some banks in the next town pretty soon. This is fun! :icon_thumleft:

Ignore the previous posters. Keep all the bicentennials that you can find!

YES, I was going to say the same thing, but he took the words out of my mouth... Even the fairly beat up ones will fetch a higher premium in the coming days, if not already... You must have a decent bank roll, but if you do..... Keep them all, I do! It is a great way to save money too! I have over a thousand bucks "in savings" and it is appreciating instead of depreciating because of the higher value.....

Good luck Gitschlag

Thanks guys, I'll hang onto them then. I also found some post-2001 Kennedy halves that looked to have been proof coins at one time. How do you folks go about ordering boxes of halves? Just ask a teller?

Great finds! Throw the bi-cents back. The others just want you to keep them out of circulation. :laughing7:
The ones you think are proofs will have the "s" mint mark. Once a proof, always a proof.

save all 2000+ halves, they are worth more, also bicentennials are worth money on ebay.

I don't think I even checked them for mint marks lol. I really don't know what to look for in terms of rare dates, coin errors, or whatever. I re-rolled all of mine, do y'all do that or is it just a waste of time?
