A little disappointed with the quarters and dimes.. Currently on a 5 box skunk streak on the quarters. Dimes still have solid boxes of 2011-D's floating around. Box1 of course makes up for all of those disappointments..

That certainly is a worn coin! Makes me wonder how some coins can be so worn out. I understand the silver coins are softer metal than the clad but I found a 1990-something dime the other day that looked like it was rubbed constantly since the day it was minted. Almost all the features are rubbed off. Any ideas on what could wear a coin down so bad?

I love the clip, too. I have a dime clip but no other coins that are that way.

Great results on the halves. As far as quarters go, getting continuous skunks is par for the course. I do not think there will ever be an average box or # of boxes searched for 1 silver. I have found 4 in one box and went 4 straight boxes with at least 1 silver --- on the flipside, I have gone through about 12 boxes AND 5 1K bags and found a single one.

Awesome clipped planchette!! Great find.

nice score on that first box esp. the '35 WL. It's odd to see that no date Kennedy - maybe it's spent some years under water or something.

btw, are those 2011 dime rolls all unc.? Has anyone ever found unc 2009 nic or dime rolls when CRHing in 2009? those would of been definite keepers.

Sweet double clip! That's the real prize of the group... Those are pretty tough.

I'd bet the worn kennedy was someone's pocket piece (just carry it around for fun/luck). How do you know it is 40% and not a 90% that is worn down?

The clipped planchet is pretty darn cool, would love to find one someday

I originally thought it could be 90%.. It's weight is slightly under 40% weight, so I'm pretty sure that's what it is based on the weight..

the weight of the dateless half is 11.2 grams
the weight of the worn walker is 11.7 grams. Pretty worn too, but still quite a bit more than the other 40%ers.

not for nothing, but i think the half may be a die adjustment strike mint error. Take a look and decide for yourself. http://www.ngccoin.com/news/viewarticle.aspx?IDArticle=1115

Thanks for the link. Yes I think you are correct. It's not a worn coin afterall. I already wasn't planning on keeping the coin with my regular junk silver stash.

Yes, plenty of people have gotten solid 2009 boxes of both dimes and nickels (2009, and even some in 2010). I have seen the nickel boxes sell for 2.5 times face on ebay for a sealed box ($250). Those are definite keepers, $250 for a $100 box will certainly justify the ebay fees. The dime boxes, however aren't keepers in my opinion. The few ebay auctions I have seen aren't selling and those are only for a small premium barely enough to justify the fees.

Ouch, $11,000 in quarters for just one. Ha ha, that still is better than your 50 boxes of halves for one 40%..
