The 1931-P isn't a rare date but it's in nice condition for that year.

Ended, sold for $29.
Makes me want to dig through the 29 Mercs I have found and take a peek. I found some absolute beauties so far. Had no idea they could go for this type of money.

if they are BU and FSB, you should be able to get good money for them.
here are some of the mercs i'm selling on ebay right now, most of them are from CRHing my partner did way back..
some of them are stunning. and these are only the ones that are $75 or less. others are worth up to $400 each..

It looked like AU to me. Not close to FSB. The price it went at was reasonable for the date.

it is very hard to tell by the pics
and very tricky to get a good picture without a camera with a very good macro lens..
but looks better than AU..

It can be hard to tell MS from AU sometimes in pictures. I feel like there's a bit of wear on the high points of the reverse, but it could just be the strike too. The obverse looks good.

Re: 1931 p Merc going for $20.00+ WHY?
Here's a quick cheat sheet:
Mercury dimes 1934 and later aren't worth much over melt unless they're in XF or better condition or if they're the 1942/1 or 1942/1-D overdates. All dimes 1931 and prior to that are worth more than melt in fine or better. Many mint-marked dimes from the teens and 20s are very scarce in VF or XF and can be worth a lot, and are worth more than melt even in G or VG condition. 1931 was a low mintage year (particularly 1931-D) so it's worth more than melt in lowish condition too. People generally know about the 1916-D (which is worth hundreds in poor condition, and tens of thousands in MS) and 1921 and 1921-D (see this one for an example of their value), but overlook dates like 1923-S, 1925-D or 1926-S (worth over $200 in XF).
No Kennedy halves are rare, even the key-date 1970-D is not worth that much. Even most Franklin halves are only worth melt unless in AU or MS condition with silver as high as it is. Same for FDR dimes - even the key date 1949 and 1949-S really need to be in MS.
