Ok, just searched through another box ($25.00) I got last week at the credit union. Drum rolls, please. ::)

Wheaties - 6 (1925 1947D 1953D 1957D x2)

King George Canadian - 1 (1950)

Foreign - 1975 Dominican Republic 1 centavo

Dimes - two (also forgot to report two add'l dimes last two boxes)

Plus a bent copper disk that might be a Lincoln memorial penny, but cannot tell with any certainty whatsoever

Copper Lincoln memorials (1959-1981) - 612

Other Canadian - 119

...I am convinced that I have been getting more pennies from fellow MD'ers. I have encountered 3 or 4 each box that look exactly the same as the pennies I have dug out of the ground.

Bob

Nice going on the wheaties, especially the 1925! Congratulations! :)

I think you're right I've noticed a lot more coins from rolls that look like they had been retreived from the ground.

I constantly put MD coins back into circulation- I don't clean 'em up either. On more than one occasion I have seen people put them aside "those look old" ... "umm...yeah they do" then I leave... wonder what they think when they get a better look at 'em later?

Pretty good results Bob. A little bit of everything there. Your copper memorials (1959-1981) must be piling up.

Yup, the current copper count is 6150 (including pre-1997 Canadian pennies). As of 9/6/06, the metal value was $145.85.
And I have the following wheaties safely tucked away in my fairly new Whitman Lincoln cents folders:
1925 1929 1934 1935 1936 1937 1940 1941 1944 1945 1946 1947D 1950D 1951 1951D 1953 1953D 1956D 1957D. The 1925 penny I found this time is the oldest coin I have pulled out of a roll so far.
I believe (though not 100% sure) those are all from coin rolls.
Now I know that it's only a start - but it's fun to see holes filling up after just about every box of pennies!
Now if I could only latch onto some key dates!!
HH,
Bob
