BuffaloBoy's October totals
Hi all, here's what I searched in the month of october.
$2,500 In halves(5 boxes)
$25 in pennies(1 box)
$300 in nickels(3 boxes)
Here's the totals:
half dollars- complete skunk. I am on a 10-box skunk streak. Might give them up.
Pennies, 18 wheat pennies(oldest 1939)
Nickels: 1943p(reverse ender), and a ND buffalo(1914 after nic-a-date), as well as 101 pre 1960 nickels and a pair of 2009 p and d nickels. Foreign coins: 2008 bermuda nickel
Reject bin finds from coin machine: 1943 silver quarter.
Not a good month for halves or nickels. Pennies were average, and I never ger silver from the reject bin of my coin machine, so that's a plus.

Re: BuffaloBoy's October totals
I feel your pain on the halves Hope they get better for you, but if they don't, then it might be worth taking a break on them as they are a hassle to carry/dump. You might try dimes for a few weeks instead.
Searched since 10/7/11:
Pennies: $25
Dimes: $1555
Half Dollars: $12640.50
Large Dollars: $49
Found:
[15] Wheaties
[2] Rosies
[47] 40% Kennedies
[1] 89 Half Proof
[2] 64 Kennedies
[4] Franklins

Dimes aren't worth it in my area, I was averaging 1 silver every $750(3 boxes) searched. When i had an issue with the local coin counter counting the dimes as pennies, that's when I said no more dimes. There are 2 sources of halves in my area, my main source is Garda(I think). i have had really hot boxes from them back in june, but nothing since. Also, i got a new bank who orders me brinks halves, 1 box a month. I am on a 3-box skunk streak for brinks and a 7-box skunk streak from Garda, making it a total of 10. (My other bank orders me 2 boxes each time)

I like nickels, they take up a lot of space though. I can return 2 boxes of nickels each visit to the dump bank(3 max if I load them in my bucket precisely). I like pennies and nickels. Pennies consistantly average me 18 wheats per box with 1 pre 1939 in the mix. Canadian pennies average 5-8 per box. Mostly newer dates like in the 80's and 90's.

Don't give up. It is just luck of the draw. I have had a 20 straight skunk before. Then, the silver goddess was kind (well, to Mr. Apush who culled 70+ silvers from one box). That has always kept me going, along with the posts on T-Net. Plus, the holidays are around the corner and those are the times folks turn in the coins.

apush
I shall not give up. Perhaps just give halves a break. My most recant batch was very odd, 2 boxes from the same source, as always. Loaded with 56 half dollars from 2009, mixed mintmarks. Unfourtinately, i already have enough of them. I kept 2 of each mintmark.
What is this holiday silver that is always talked about? I have been around this forum for at least to 3 years(i lurked before I joined, like most of us), never really paid attention to the holiday silver posts.
Thanks for the encouragement, people's posts on here keep me believing that it is out there, as rileyboy always says.
