No, they will not have an "S". Mirror-like background will be the key.

Also the raised metal will almost look frosted in comparison

Actually very few of the 64 proofs were with Cameo surfaces. The few that were have long since been broken out of their sets and reside in slabs. Every now and then, some will come out of hiding from a private collection and there is a feeding frenzy/bidding war when they do come out. Most proofs can only be distinguished by the mirror-like fields. A very small percentage of proofs will also have be the accented hair variety.

so, I guess the answer is just having a trained eye? I asked because I found a 1964 saturday that I was thinking could have possibly been a proof. I am not sure though, if it is, it is a shame that someone just carelessly tossed it into the wild. It is a bit beat up. I am curious, how many Tnet'ers have found a 64 proof CRH'ing?

I have found 3 1964 proofs CRHing, one was the accented hair variety. I've also found a few impaired Franklin proofs. Once you've seen a few of the older proofs, you can spot them. Pretty cool to find them even if they aren't worth much over silver.
