No, but if you have brinks clear wrapped, sometimes the darker, older, dirtier rims MAY be silver war nickels, some not. The ultimate answer is no from me. I search brinks nickels often.

I eyeballed a '43P out of the tellers tray by just looking at the rim. Ever since then I have tried to do the same thing by asking for the dull or dark rimmed nickels... no more luck.

It's tough, I wouldn't do it. Even doing the search by the darker rims doesn't always work. I've spotted darker rims and it was just a dirty clad coin.

I rim search all of mine.
I haven't got time for the 2% I might miss.

Keep on Rollin' !

I do not search nickels often, so I dont have many silver ones, but out of the 7 or 8 that I have found, more than half of them would never have been found "edge checking".

in my opinion, I like spending time sitting down for 45 minutes searching a whole box of nickels date by date.

Thank you for answering one of my unasked questions. Something I always wondered about.
