Hi everybody. I actually searched these 2 penny boxes on 12/28/11, but decided not to post results until today, January 1, 2012.
I wanted to share these results...(numbers are included in 2011 totals)

I have been having a real hot penny box code lately with twice as many wheats in them, and many of those wheats, pre 1940.

Here are the dates...

1912 :hello2: :headbang:
1914
1917
1919
1919-S
1924-S :icon_sunny:
1926
2X 1929
3X 1934
4X 1935
1936
1937
1939
7X 1940
1940D
4X 1941
4X 1942
1942D
7X 1944
1945
1946D
2X 1948
1949
1949D
1950
1950-S
1951
1951D
4X 1953D
6X 1956
2X 1956D
1957
3X 1957D

Pretty awesome penny boxes, unfourtinately, the bank ran out of this specific code... Happy new year everybody!!

Awesome! I feel great if I pull 10 per box. Congrats on the sweet scores, and hope the new year brings you loads of wheat, copper, and silver!
Thanks, I don't save copper, though I did "average" a penny box last month with all pre 1981 coppers and got 27.62%... Why pre 1981? I did not take my time to distinglish between the 82 pennies, so I'd say a solid 28% copper average. :icon_sunny:

Good stuff! I only got 3 wheats in my last box :BangHead:
sorry to hear about the low average penny box, mind me asking what you're averaging per box? I am averaging 20 wheats per box, but in 2011, I had a box with as little as 8 wheats, and a box with as many as 52 wheats. :icon_sunny:

I have been averaging about 15 per box. My highest wheat total has been 20. Your 28% copper average also far exceeds my average. I am averaging about 16-18% copper per box. With work, school starting back up and baseball season quickly approaching it will be hard to search as many cents as I did over the break. I hope to do at least two a week during the school year.
good luck, I look forward to seeing your posts. I don't save coppers, too much work to sort by hand. 2 boxes a week will end you with a good 100+ boxes for the year, do you only search pennies?

I have searched halves before. During my first coin roll hunting experience, in about $120 worth of customer rolled halves, I pulled two 1964 Kennedy's, two 1968 Kennedy's and a beautiful 1955 Franklin. I have tried about $400 worth in dimes which resulted in nothing. I settled on cents because about 16% of the box is a "keeper". I hope that the value of copper increases this year, but I am mostly invested in the copper cents for the long haul. Hopefully, if I can continue to stash away the copper and the price of copper continues to rise, I will have a nice little stash of money when I get out of college. My dad was kind enough to give me his coin collection from when he was a kid. It is a pretty nice little stash. It includes the following:

1880 Morgan Dollar
1884 Morgan Dollar
(2) 1896 Morgan Dollars
(3) 1921 Morgan Dollars
1925 Peace Dollar
1903 Barber Half Dollar
(2) Walking Liberty Half Dollars
(12) Benjamin Franklin Half Dollars
(6) 1964 Kennedy Half Dollars
(2) 40% Half Dollars
Standing Liberty Quarter
1900 V Nickel
1943 Mercury Dime

I was very thankful and surprised by his act of generosity. It gave quite the boost to my collection!!

Anyways, I hope to at least do two boxes of cents per week during the school year. However, I will hopefully do a lot more than two boxes a week during summer break, Thanksgiving break and Christmas Break. My goal is to do about 150 boxes in 2012. If I maintain my copper average of 16-18% per box and my 15 wheats per box, I will be looking at 60,00-67,500 copper cents and about 2,250 wheats. Maybe I will even find an Indian!

I hope you have a great 2012!
nice little cache, very nice of him to pass it down to you! My grandfather passed down mint and proof sets to me from 1965-present... unfourinately, most are not worth too much. I would never sell them though :)

With your talk of finding so many wheats, you've got me wanting to pick up a box to search!!!

I haven't done a box of cents in a looooong time.
