All of my half dollar veins are tapped out! I still pick up whatever loose and CWRs that I can find. I am finding 3-4 40%ers a month.

My new goal is 2-3 dime boxes a day, 6 days a week. Hopefully I will find 15-20 silver dimes a week.

So far:
Sunday
Box #1 - 2 FDRs
Box #2 - 3 FDRs
Monday
Box #1 skunk
Box #2 1 FDR
Tuesday
Box #1 4 FDRs and 1x1968 Canadian (50% Ag)
Box #2 1 FDR
Box #3 1 Merc (1944)
Wed
Box #1 skunk
Box #2 skunk
Thurs
Box #1 shunk
Box #2 2 FDRs
Box #3 shunk

Totals: 14 US silver dimes and one 50% Canadian dime

2nd box of dimes today. stupid credit union. I dumped my coins and because I went 5 dollars over their limit, they charged me, taking 4.11 off my total. I told them that I had called ahead and talked to so-and-so about going over a tiny bit. The teller, a guy was new and asked the lady next door. She said that I could wait for the machine to count each dime, then add them in a few at a time till I reach the daily limit. Sheesh. Next time I will just do below the limit, carry dime rolls with me and roll the rest. I wish I could find another coin counter, but so far no good. Gone to other banks and they won't even sell me boxes of dimes. People on this forum were very sweet and suggested I start to buy single rolls here and there. sounds good to me.

I got skunked for a 2nd time. Bummer. But at least this box had canadian dimes in it. No silver, but I am glad to see canadian in it. At least for me, that means it hasn't been culled. Oh well. i will just wait till next week to dump my box and get another one. On a good note I found out a place where I can get 2012 ASEs for 35 bucks apiece.

Hugs and Smiles,
Garoulady

I found my first silver dimes!! I got a 1961 and 1964 out of 1 1/2 boxes of dimes and better yet, I found out that a bank in town that I have a checking account with doesn't have a limit with coin returns.Yeah!!

I asked them because I had a lot of my mom's coins that I needed counted up. The teller was very nice and I snagged her card to write the company and let them know how nice she was. I think wednesday weather permitting with TS Sandy coming towards michigan, I want to take my loose dimes back there, grab 100 of halves if they have them, then take the rest of the money and go to my other credit union to get a box of dimes. I know people say to not dump and pick at the same bank/CU but its so hard to find good branches around here.

Go for it. I have lousy lucky trying to return half dollars. I do require a toll of 1 40% if you find more than one of course. (Just Joking!!! LOL. Being sick and still up at 8 in the morning for 15 hours straight is making me punch drunk). I do require instead knowing what goodies you find. At least one of us might have luck with halves. I won't search halves up here at the moment. Need to check with my new dump bank and see if they take halves. If they do I might go back to halves, then again maybe not. I am just so stoked that I found a bank that I have an account with that has no limit to dumping. Yes!!! ::does a happy dance:: Unfortunately I have to work the next 4 days and I have saturday off. I hate having weekends off. I rather work them and get my weekdays off. Then I don't have to fight traffic with the other 100,000 traverse City nutcases trying to cram all their stuff in two days.

Take care driving and watch out the next couple of days with this weather. Ugh!

Garoulady

Going into town tomorrow (thursday) to dump my dimes and get new ones. I am tossing the idea around about getting some halves, but only about 100 dollars worth. Stupid question, has anyone tried to ask the teller, "Yeah, I am looking for a couple of half dollars, ::pull out a piece of paper:: 2- 1965 and one 1967. They're for my neice and nephew's coin books?" Has that worked for anyone or do you think it would be a tipoff to the tellers?

Also Local, how did the hunt go? Hopefully traverse city was good to you. Where I am at wasn't. We had snow on the ground. yuck!!!! ::whimpers:: there are times moving to kentucky sounds really good.

Do you really want an honest answer to your question after reading the umpteen thousand posts about this topic....:icon_scratch:

MIHunter, How many boxes of dimes a week do you get? Or do you buy a couple of boxes a day?

Just wondering.

I go to banks most days (sun-fri) unless I am too busy with work/family/religion. I get 1-2 boxes per bank. I try to do 2-3 boxes a day with a goal of 10-15 boxes a week and 15-25 silver dimes per week. I always ask for halves and pick up all the CWR and loose that I can.
