To the scumbag CRHer in my area that shorts the rolls

Who in their right mind intentionally shorts the rolls. I got a box today as part of my pickup that was taped. It had writing on it. It was the Brinks type so it is not glue sealed. The rolls have obviously been looked through since the ends were open, not crimped. Five of those rolls are short by a coin. So I am out $2.50. What a low life scumbag. Who in their right mind would intentionally short a box? It's pretty obvious since that's amongst the highest coins I've been shorted in a box. I've never been shorted by that many by machine wrapped rolls. Everytime I get a repackaged box, over half of them have at least a roll that is short. What is with that? Are you really that poor that you need $2.50? So you rip off the bank or someone else.

If it's machine error, I have no choice and can't get too upset. But who ever dumps them always seems to short the box.

I have a suspicion about who this guy is. I ran into a guy last week while I picked up and he picked up too. The tellers there told me that this guy always brings the dumps back to them. They don't say anything about it but they don't really like him because he doesn't understand the basics of CRHing! He's lucky that they're nice employees at the bank. There is no evidence that this is the guy but just a suspect. Yeah, he lives in the area and it's not the ghetto. He doesn't look poor to me. If you are reading this and if you are the guy that did this, grow up. All I can say is who ever does this, go to Church or look up the definition of Ethics in the dictionary. If you go to Church and you do this, you really are a scumbag hypocrite.

Anyhow, I am just venting cause I'm PO'ed. This should be one of the rules of CRHing too. Don't short the rolls when returning them. You're stealing money.

Was the box re taped? I have received several brinks boxes with loose rolls that have been short, sometimes 3-4 coins short. I am not more than 100 miles from you.

The Brinks boxes around here are taped by clear tape. As I looked at it, there is a second layer of tape on it so he taped over it. Usually when I get an untaped box with opened rolls, I'll weigh the rolls in store. But this time, they got me. I overlooked it. I just don't get why people need to do this. How childish can they get. You're 100 miles away but your area is better than mine right now for this hobby. I don't think it's the same guy. I did get a 1964 impaired proof out of the 3 boxes. Only one was repackaged. I didn't go through the repackaged box rolls.

Interesting. Yeah, I always check the tape to be sure its not been gone over. I get burned too though, but mostly from CWRs. I am certain we are drawing out of separate cash vaults though I do see yours and the red striper marks on coins over here. I expect things to slow down as I pull the silver from the coin pool.

Today I pulled three silver plated 74s, they look recent too, very bright.

I thought you weren't getting a lot of mine. I had a box last week that was just full of my marked coins. It must've come from the exact bag that I brought them in. Of course it was a skunker. If you're getting a lot of mine, you're numbers wouldn't be that great. My numbers have really dropped off since fall of last year. You sure they're silver plated? Perhaps chrome plated? I have yet to see a silver plated clad coin in a roll.

I see yours and the stripers in about the same frequency, maybe 10 or so/box lately. I only edge check so I notice them when I drop the coins into the bag, certainly not scientific lol. The three I pulled today are definitely (to my eyes) silver plated, they have that white silver look to them. This is a recent occurrence, I have not seen coins treated in this manner before. I have found 3-4 gold plated coins.

I travel to an area that is serviced by the Los Angeles cash vault, so I dump into there whenever possible. I believe I am into a new supply perhaps. Two of my order banks recently said the cash vault ran out of halves, after which I received a batch of coins that had different markings etc. I dont know what is really going on, I suspect the banks are selling halves to the fed to get rid of them. Who knows though.

Hmm.. that is very interesting. I noticed the box today that I got the 64 proof, there wasn't any marked coins. Figured that it was perhaps a new palate or different supply they were drawing from. I probably do mark around 10-20 coins per box. Maybe more depending on how many casino halves I see. I will pick out coins with worn edges and if it's worn (beat up), I'll mark it. Strangely enough, I did get a 1900-S amongst a box with a bunch of my marked coins last month. I wish I really knew how the system works.

I have given serious consideration to calling loomis and asking for a tour, though I doubt I would get one. I would pay some money to see how everything works. I might call them and ask lol.

maybe drop the dime on this guy so to say, let the tellers know the type box that you are getting shorted from so they know to count him down. Thats an iffy line though as they might do the same to you also. Sucks that some dont have morales and values.
If it were easy and we scored keepers everytime it would be called Coin Roll Picking not Coin Roll Hunting.

Re: To the scumbag CRHer in my area that shorts the rolls

I got 3 rolls of Brinks dimes mixed in with CWR's yesterday, those 3 rolls total were short 5 dimes.

Its fine though, I have come out ahead more than that so far in spare dimes in MWR's so I can deal with it.
