Hey all,

So I did well this past week in dimes (Found 4 across 3 boxes). But that was Thursday. So I was bored Friday and went to the bank to grab a box of pennies since I haven't done them in a long time. It was a Brinks box. I was curious of the ratio of Non Wheat Pre 81 pennies to post 82. (I generally ignored 82 for speed sorting sake so results will be somewhat skewed.)

$25 Pennies searched.

Found 582 non wheat 81 and earlier. (Oddly enough only 5 with an S mint mark. 2x 1970S and 3x 1969S)
Found 9 wheats (1942, 2 x 1944, 1948D, 1951, 3 x 1957D, 1958D)
Rest were 82 on.

Results: Roughly 23.7% were copper. (Counting Wheats) Roughly 23.28% not counting wheats.

Not too bad really. Though I was hoping for earlier wheats.

Not sure which part of the country you are in. I am on the east coast and have never found more s mint coppers in a box than wheats. They are fairly rare on this side of the country. I would say for a brinks box i am 3-4 to 1 wheat to s mint ratio.

Also keep your 1982 pennies. put them in a separate container and weigh them at some point. They run about 80% copper here so you are throwing away a percent or so on your total's. Anyway gl.
