Yet again, great volume. You sure do put in the work! I just cant imagine you having a sophisticated enough dump strategy to not piss off your banks. However, maybe you do.

Keep up the great work!

That's a really great looking Liberty Nickel. I've only found one so far but it was almost unrecognizable.

Nice totals! :icon_thumleft:

Is the V nick the "cents" or "no cents" version?

looks like an '83 no cents in pretty nice cond. - probably worth at least a couple of bucks - nice find.

And about a 3 keeper avg on your half boxes is pretty good too! :icon_thumright:

I'm only averaging about 1/2 a keeper per box from my last 10 half boxes so a 3 keeper avg would sure be an improvement for me.

HH!

If the picture showing the reverse of the coin was there when I posted my question I feel pretty stupid. ::)

The story I've always heard on the 1883 V nickel (but for some reason have never taken the time to verify) is that since it was a new design, and that the back only had a "V" with no "cents", that certain unscrupulous types were gold plating them and passing them off as $5 gold coins...which is exactly why the mint changed the design by adding the word "cents" that same year. I've always wanted to find one with at least some of the gold plating still attached.

If I lived in KC I could manage that sort of volume.. where I am now, I could not.

Way to go Timmy!!!! I see you did quite well with the halves... do you know how many skunks were in the 47-box batch? :icon_sunny:

Also, the 1883 nickel is something else, Amazing find, it is pre 1900, a one year type coin, and not in horrible shape!

As I mentioned. PNC has shut down all half dumping in 4 locations around me. This is from some over-dumpers. Seriously, go easy here. Abusing the machine with TOO MUCH or TOO OFTEN will get you and everyone else cut off. You will lose it. When I went in with $400 and they said no way, then obviously someone was an abuser before me. Now no one gets the use it.
Use common sense here.

It a full time job to do 47 boxes! Tim the last month or so you have been doing over or close to 50 boxes a week I am happy for you but I am so worried you are going to abuse dump banks that other CRH use that they will cut us off like I read in another post (above) that PNC where Scott lives will no longer accept halves at their coin counter machines. Don't be greedy and ruin it for the rest of us!

Common sense…….

there is only 1 pnc that i know that has a coin counter!! I have only used it 2 times. $2400 1st time and $1000 the 2nd. And that was after talking to the manager. He said it was ok. This pnc is 45 min from my house. I have no problem with anything!! I use over 24 banks for my pick ups. And ?? 20 for dumps. Am friends now with one guy he takes all i have. Any one that dumps to much is just lazy!! :icon_sunny:

Cool finds! I'm still a bit jealous about you guys in US searching half-dollar boxes. They are really the bread and butter of CRH.
No such thing in Canada :(
Just imagine searching dollar boxes...Morgans, Peace, Canadian dollars mixed up with silver Eisenhowers.
