Well, I am done for the week. Not the best haul but not bad. One bank forgot to order me 2 boxes but they would have likely been skunks as that has been the case to date with them :D

CWR

1 CWR Dimes - Skunked
1 CW Quarters - Skunked
Box 1 Brinks - Skunked
Box 2 Brinks - 3/40% 1/90%
B0x 3 Brinks - Skunked
Box 4 Brinks - 7/40%
Box 5 Brinks - Skunked
Box 6 Brinks - Skunked
92 CW Dimes - 2 Rosies

Auction

1965 Canadian Half Proof for $0.55
1867 Italian 10 Centesimi for $0.55
1950 German 50 Phenning for $0.25 (took a shot to see if its silver or not, its copper/nickel)
1888 French Indo China 1 centim for $0.25 (I see one going online for $12 Euro)

I figured for the low prices I might as well grab some of the old coins, Might be able to flip them for a profit to the right buyer.

2.3603 oz found so far for March.

Will update again on the 4 box Tuesday and again on 8 box Wednesday.

100 oz's of silver you mean?

Great buy on that Canadian half - it's worth over 10 bucks. And I found one of those 1950 German 50 Pfennig coins myself in a nickel box in Jan I think and did some research and found that there is a rare variety of those coins that's worth a few hundred dollars but mine is just the common variety - yours may be too but check it out for sure before you sell. It has to do with the spelling on the coin. I posted some info on the coin when I found it that explained the 2 diff varieties.

Anyway, good luck with the March and your road to recovery.

I have not done much research on the coins yet to find out their values etc. Only reason I found the value of the 1888 is because I found a picture of it and the picture had a price too.

And yes, my 'March' to 100 oz of silver, 4.95 oz away. My goal for the end of this month, which is March is 100 oz and I think i should not have too much of an issue passing that up and I could not pass up the chance to be 'punny'. :D

Good on the foreign coins, but I think you overpaid for the German and Italian coins... though the italian coin is indeed old, I wish I could sell all the old italiann 10centimsi coins for 50c each ;D

Anyway, a nice addition to your collection.

I believe you'll score your 100 oz goal by next weekend :)

I just checked on that coin and a German 1950 G 50 Pfennig Bundesrepublik Deutschland is only worth maybe a $.25 or so (about what you paid for it - I think anyway) but there is a slightly different coin with the same date/mintmark (1950G 50 Pfennig BANK DEUTSCHER LANDER) that is worth hundreds of dollars. Good luck with yours.

I may have over paid but they are nice coins none the less. Its a part of the worlds history and at 50 cents, owning a piece of that from the mid west of the US isnt too bad of a thing.

As for me scoring 100 oz by next weekend, barring any stupidity known as skunks or attack toilets, I should hit the goal. With brinks I am current averaging per box....

Average: 3.12/40% - 0.96/90% : 0.8199 oz average on 26 boxes ( 12 of them being skunks )

I have 10 boxes due next week

30/40% - 10/90% 8.2 oz is about what I should see.

Well, I was supposed to have 4 boxes on Tuesday but the teller didnt order them for me so I missed out on those. Today I went out and grabbed todays boxes.

I have been having some problems with one dump bank, they dont mind taking my dumps but once it hits around 11am to 1pm they have issues. I am usually done with my CRH by then and they are my final stop so I have had to switch things about.

Bank 3 ( which is now going to be bank 1 ) I picked up my 3 boxes.

Box 1 Was nice, 11/40% and 2/90% with 1 ender. One of the 90% was a Franklin
Box 2 was nice as well, 9/40% and 2/90% both Franklins.
Box 3 was bleh, 3/40%

I managed half of a magicians coin in one roll.

I then head to my usual bank 2. They told me they had bad news, I thought they didnt order for me again. The bad news was they received a bag. I said that was fine but the bag ended up skunking me. I did manage to get a free quarter out of the bag though, so I gained something for my time.

Bank 3 which is usually bank 1 had my boxes waiting for me. I grabbed them up and took them home to search them... all 3 skunked. Oh well.

My averages at sticking about the same as of right now for halves.

3.31/40% - 0.91/90% - 0.8177oz - Skunk Avg 47%

Dumped the coin at a my usually Wednesday dump bank and the teller lets me know that as of right now, its still ok for me to dump but that her boss was asking about the halves being shipped out. She said her boss didnt say anything about it other than asking and that she said that I take their dimes and nickels off their hands so they dont have to ship those. She says she will let me know if the policy changes but that its possible they wont accept halves anymore. That will suck but I dont even have an account there so I will have to suck it up.

I did end up grabbing $365 in dimes from them, $94 in nickels, Another $35 in CW Dimes from another bank and $250 in CW Dimes from another bank.

Out of 130 rolls in dimes, I managed 3 Rosies. Sticking me right on par with my 1:42 average
Out of 46 Rolls of nickels, I managed 1 war and a 1907 V Nickel, my second so far this year.

31/40%
2/90%
3 Franklin
5 Rosies
1 War

7.4820 oz found so far this month, 2.1878 oz away from 100.

Doubt I will have any more coin to search this week.

Next week I have 6 Brinks and 2 String boxes/bag to do.

looks like some pretty decent finds. I'd sure settle for a blah 3 keeper box like box 3. That's much better than most of my boxes lately.

Yeah lol, I just had a 3 keeper box and I was pleased ;D. Other two boxes skunked out.

Good show EE, keep it up. I am also nearing the 100OZ mark for CRHing finds. Its fun to see it all add up.

I cant complain about 3 keepers, even 40% its always better than a skunk but damn, those boxes dried up quick :D

I hope the next 3 weeks stay on par. Sadly, my funds are drying up right now. Its been a slow 6 weeks with little work and more money going out than coming in. I am down to $1500 to play with at the moment and as of the 15th, will be down to $1000. Unless some magic happens, CRH is going to be impossible for me by middle of next month unless I get more parts sold.

As for watching it add up, it sure is. I am 2 rolls away from filling up one of those cardboard $100 roll boxes of 40% halves. I am going to have to invest in some it seems as none of the local banks want to give any of them away or order them for me.

MeghrigHalfBox.jpg

I almost have one roll of Kennedy 90% done, half way through Franklin and nearing half way done with walking half rolls.

I'm going to have to try my luck at ordering boxes from different banks and maybe open another acct at another bank because my boxes at my current supply banks just aren't producing.

Good luck with your financial situation EE - hope things work out for you. Sounds like your CRHing is going pretty good at least.

Well, its been an interesting week that is for sure.

Decided to hold my fishing off till a little later in the after noon after I called a bank local to the area and found out they have some loose halves and some halves in the vault. Ended up grabbing 6 CW's and 10 String rolls. I got skunked on everything :( I ended up going to a branch of the bank that said no more coin machine and deposited the $160 into my account via their coin machine in back and they made no fuss.

While I was in the area, I opened up an account at a new bank that will give me two coin counters in the lobby to use here at home. I will be splitting up boxes with them, dumping a single box in each branch once every 2 weeks, maybe 3 boxes split between the 2 depending on the capacity of the counter.

Tomorrow I have 6 boxes of Brinks and 2 of Strings. I have not decided how I am going to handle the dumps yet. I have 1 more account to open tomorrow.

Then I need to ponder the auction come Friday morning. 200 lots of coins and gold to go up for sale. I am hoping the weather and the time of day keeps many away.

So.. hit my first bank today a little later than I usually do, damned time change hah. Grabbed my 3 boxes of Brinks Halves and that was it, the teller didnt have any CWR's for me in any denomination.

Drive off and park in my CRH parking lot where I always check the coin from this branch.

Box 1 Skunk
Box 2 Skunk
Box 3 1/40%

Well, at least it was not 3 skunks from the boxes like last week.

I head off to a local bank to start an account. I tell the lady right off the bat my intentions. I am a coin collector, I search coin and I intend to dump no more than $1000 a week in halves and I do plan to make weekly deposits in the account ( like I do with all my other accounts ). She is perfectly fine with it as she is also a coin collector. We talk about our finds, her as a teller and I as a customer and finish up my account. I make my initial deposit using a $1000 bag of halves. I now have 5 bank accounts open.

I then move to bank 2, the one I am dropping as a buy bank which delivers me skunky string halves. I walk in and let them know I am here for my halves and she brings out 2 bags... I only ordered 2 boxes or 1 bag. I take one bag and leave the other for next week. I search the bag, pull out a single 40% half and some British coins, 1 Peso, 1 token, a Dog Tag and a smashed penny from Branson Missouri. I head off to my credit union I use for a dump, dump my coin and deposit $10 into the free checking account

I go to bank 3 to grab my other 3 boxes of Brinks Halves and the teller is gone, she went home early and they cannot get to the halves.. oh well. They ask if I can come in tomorrow and I tell them I wont be able to make it until next week.

So.. I head back to bank 2 since bank 3 has nothing and grab the other bag of $1000 halves.... Skunked. 10 boxes worth of halves off them so far and a single 40% to show for it. At least I got something out of them before I finished.

So the take so far in my quest to 100 ozt has been slowed considerably this week. I still have dimes and nickles to do from a dump bank of mine ( I give them halves and they pawn off their dimes and nickels on me lol ).

I now sit at.

Went to the auction today. Wow, some people just had too much money. I didnt get much.

I made a mistake on my poor memory and purchased one coin way over priced. Picked up a 1959 Mexican Silver Peso. I figured it would have more silver in it than it did. Turns out I figured wrong and picked it up for $7.00 and it only has $1.67 worth of silver in it. Mistake #1.

Second mistake was a lot of 4 Casino coins from Colorado. A friend and I went in on the coins together. We got to the auction late so didnt get to fully inspect everything. Going on a guesstimate on the weight of the silver contained in the coin, we picked them up for $22.50 ea. Turns out there is only .60 ozt worth of silver per coin, or $19.54. Retail at a coin shop they would go for about $25 ea because of their collector value. Not a big loss and they are pretty neat to look at. Indians on them.

Item #3 was a 1909 Barber Quarter with damage, picked that up for $4.

My friend picked up a 1780 Thresea for $7. Not sure how I missed seeing it in the list but I did. I already own one but at that price I would gladly own another :D He also picked up other misc things and a 1981 proof set that looks to be a clear S. If it is ( will find out money ) it could be worth $375, he paid $6.

So over all I lost some money today in my purchases. Cant learn unless you make mistakes.

That brings this months totals to.

Did some trading yesterday, traded some rosies to a lady I met at an auction for a 1oz generic round straight across.

Tomorrow is 8 brinks boxes of halves. I am itching to bust those boxes open, last week was a bust with just 2/40% halves between 3 brinks boxes and 2 bags.

2 weeks left on my march to 100ozt. 14 boxes total and unknown CWR's. I dont see how I cant get it done. Sadly I started this month 8 ozt ahead of schedule but its possible the next two weeks holds some magic. I would like to leave this month 10 ozt ahead for the start of next month.

Sounds like you are just a few keepers away from reaching 100 oz's of silver. You might be able to find that much with tomorrow's boxes. You sure got me beat so far this month. I had my best day of the month so far today with 2 x '69D halves from $60 cwr and just a few minutes ago I found a '46 (almost a Merc) Rosie from some cwr dimes I got today. So that puts my monthly total of finds at 3 x 40% halves, 7 Rosie's and 1 silver nickel. I got some more dimes, another box of nics and $190 more in cwr halves to search so maybe I can find a little more silver tonight. :)

Btw, I don't remember for sure - did you find that Barber quarter or was that from an auction?

H$H!

H$H!

Only Barber I have ever found was a 1909 Barber Half. Everything else has been either Auction or coin shop.

I did pick up a single Rosie today from the coin Shop. My trading the other day left me 1 dime shy of a full roll so I went ahead and purchased one to fill up the roll before I forgot which one it was. There is a chance I might not find another dime this month so I figured its worth the $2.40 I spent.

Also, Friday is one auction. Should be interesting, rings dont sell too expensive at this auction from what I have seen but with the size of the diamonds, its hard to say what will happen. I should be able to walk away with at least one of them. I really want to start getting some precious stones into my safe. Any rings I buy, I will be sending to the refiner but all the stones stay with me :D

Yesterdays 6 boxes.

Box 1: Skunked.

Box 2: Roll #1 had 1/40%, Roll 2 had nothing, Roll 3 had 2/40%, roll 4 had nothing, roll 5 had 1/40% and the rest of the box was a skunk.

Box 3: Skunk

Box 4: Skunk

Box 5: Skunk

Box 6: Skunk

2 rolls of CW Quarters, skunked.

So that leaves March with 1 week and 6 boxes of halves left. I started this month 8 ozt ahead and from the looks of it I will be ending barely ahead for April. I finally hit 100 ozt and am now working toward the end of April goal of 116 ozt. Maybe next week will be a good one, out of the last 14 boxes, I have managed 1/40% and 5/40%.
