Wow, that up 20 from the last time I saw one of your post. I just found my second 74 and none of the others. I was beginning to think that I just couldn't see them till this one. I have been finding lots of other things thou. Die cracks, Die gouges, strike thrus, fakes etc. Just no double dies. Maybe this 74 will be my turn around and I'll start finding as many as you.

The 74D seems to be more common than I thought. My advantage is I have been looking for them for several years now, so I have a bit of a head start on most everyone else. Still looking for my first 73D and 77D tho. HH

The only negative aspect of casino searching is I can't scrutinize for small errors like DD's, missing initials, tiny die cracks, etc. It would have to be obvious like a large die break or a noticeable clip. When I search at work I can check for these things but not in a noisy casino with dim lighting! And even when I'm able to examine them closely, the doubling or other error has to be easy to spot.

Coin World newspaper regularly has columns written by error expert Jim Wexler and to date he's found over 60 different double die versions for the Minnesota quarters. Almost all of them are extra little bits of the tree design. He's also found extremely tiny doubling of Lincoln's knees and legs on the reverse of some recent pennies. I'm sorry, but when the "doubling" is that minute, it doesn't interest me.

I look at my coins thru one of those lamps with a magnifying glass built in. I'm guessing that its about 5X. If I don't see anything with that, then they're rejects. Any thing I see then I look at with a 30X loupe. A lot of the double dies in the cherrypicker guide are so small that I know I won't see them especially in circulated state. Also I hardly look at anything newer then 1990. The execptions to that are some 1998P and 2000P with die cracks along the bottom of the neck starting at the designers initials. On the 2000P, they seem so common that I doubt there is any value but I'm trying to find a set showing how the crack progressed. The problem is I think there may be more than 1 die involved since not all cracks seem to go in the same angle.
