Well my situation keeps getting better. :sarcasm:

Went to my main bank today to get some dimes and nickels. Found out that the vault teller that agreed to order halves for me was "no longer employed" at the bank. The teller could not verify if he ordered my box before he left. So I'll just have to call on Friday.

Picked up $350 in dimes and $36 in nickels. Skunked on the dimes but I found my first war nickel! 1944 P. I guess some silver is better than none. Good luck everyone!

    Good day everyone!

Had a poor start to my day today. I went to dump around $420 in dimes, nickels and halves at a coin machine. After dumping I noticed that the amount shown on my claim ticket was significantly short. It read "$327.--. Normally I would not sweat a dollar here or there off but this was ridiculous. I spoke to the teller who filed a claim on my behalf. A banker took down my info and said that I would be contacted once the machine's totals are reviewed. So I'm out $100ish right now. I'm assuming that the machine counted a lot of the dimes as pennies . Regardless I'm going to make sure I get my $100.

I was supposed to have a box come in today but the vault teller who I ordered from either quit or was fired before he could make the order. The teller offered me $500 in CWRs. I reluctantly accepted. She came out with the rolls and I noticed they all were marked with an "N" . Fortunately the teller miscalculated and only brought out $250 which saved me the hassle of dumping.

I went to my car and started opening. All of the coins were marked except for a few. I did open one roll and noticed a sliver clad rim with a green tint. It ended up being a 1968 D that had been spray painted! I'll take it. Also ended up with a 2005 P, 1970 Bermuda 50 Cent piece and what seems to be an error coin. Can someone confirm?

    Good Luck to everyone!

Sorry to hear about not getting your box again, but at least you got some silver! Beats my 3 boxes of skunks this week. I can't make out what might be wrong with that 1995.

Was that a BB&T machine that shorted you? You're probably right, it could have counted your dimes as cents. I've heard that happens sometimes from people on here. I always try to re-roll my dimes just to make sure. I hope you're able to recover the $100.

Yes it was a BB&T. I'll only use the machine for anything other than dimes from now on. The tellers were very nice and called the coin machine company immediately. Either way I'll be calling corporate if I don't get reimbursed.

Those Bermuda halves have low mintages. Unfortunately, you got the 1970 one, which has the highest mintage, 1,000,000 minted. Some other ones have mintages as low as 40,000.
1/100 of an American dollar is a cent. It is NOT a penny. The word penny is used by several other countries, such as Great Britain, to denote their smallest denomination. In order to be numismatically correct, you must use the term cent to describe the American coin.

Thanks for the info! I've never found one before so it was pretty neat.

Things are turning up! I have a friend who is a teller at a bank and will be ordering a weekly box of halves along with anything else I need. Also had another bank near work order agree to order for me

No other CRH finds this weekend. My wife did give me my first ever Peace Dollar as a gift. Also picked up my first Silver Eagle. I think I'll be buying one every week as long as silver remains relatively low.

    Good luck everyone!

I picked up the Silver Eagle at a local coin shop. I've never bought one before but it was $33 and some change. I believe the spot was $28.** at the time so it looks to be a $5 premium. Is this normal? I didn't ask into the specifics of how he priced them but he did mention something. I just wasn't paying attention. Hopefully he didn't screw me over.

On another note, picked up $100 in BWR dimes. Went to the car and noticed they were all 2012 P. Oh well. I'll dump them tomorrow! Good luck everyone!

my coin shop charges sales tax, I would rather purchase them online or elsewhere where you don't have to pay sales tax, because here, sales tax on $33 is over $2... so that $33 coin would cost me more than $35 with tax.

by the way, I am liking your 90% ratio of bens/walkers to 90% kenns!

$5 is a bit on the higher end, I'd only go $2 or so over melt.

I'll have to call and ask for a better explanation on how he prices. There is another coin shop near me that I can call as well.

I always call around to the different coin shops to see what they are charging for ASEs and go with whoever has the lowest premium. Saves trouble and gas.
