Usernameerror's Finds

Rather than making a new thread every time I find something, I thought I would just make a single thread and update when necessary (hopefully often).

I left work early today to hit a bank before going home. I initially asked the teller for CWR dimes. She had $70 in CWR dimes. She also offered me 2 boxes but I declined as I noticed both boxes contained new 2012 P dimes. I then asked if she had any halves. She smiled and pulled $70 in CWR halves from her safe. She told me that a customer dropped them off earlier today and she would be glad to get rid of them. She found it a hassle to count the halves in her safe. I walked away with both dimes and halves.

This bank is in an area that services an elderly population so I was optimistic. I skunked on the dimes but I found a 1964 and 1967 :) the 64 was easy to find but I missed the 67 my first go around. I usually open the rolls and do a quick rim check then move on. The 67 had a darker rim so I missed it. Good thing I always check each half for proofs and NIFCs.

All in all it was a solid day. Good luck to everyone!

That 25 ore coin is very interesting! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! It has a smooth silver edge so it was easy to pick out. I knew immediately that it was silver as soon as I pulled it from the roll. Just didn't know what percentage of silver.

Also forgot to mention that I pulled a 1968D Kennedy from a box this past weekend and a 1987D NIFC from $70 dumped rolls. My first 1987!

Good luck!

The other coin is an Algerian 1 centime from 1964 made of aluminum, worth about 40 cents.

Thanks Sagittarius! No wonder why it felt so cheap.

Today I went to the same bank I visited two days ago. This bank is in a relatively low income area. My thoughts are that people in this area tend to roll coins for spare cash. Well since I had good luck last time I decided to pick up more rolls and diversify a little.

I decided to pick up $100 in quarters, $100 in dimes and $20 in nickels.

The quarters included a really old looking roll. I got excited hoping for my share in the solid roll pool. Alas it was a solid roll of bicentennials. The rest of the quarters also included another solid roll of bicentennials. Not the collection dump I wanted but I'm going to go back soon and buy all the CWR quarters they have. Maybe this person dumped his silver quarters along with the bicentennials.

I did end up pulling a 1964D from the dimes so it wasn't a total loss. The nickels were skunky.

Good luck everyone!

If those bicentennials are in really good shape, you should take them to eBay. People go bananas over that kind of stuff.

Was thinking about putting them on eBay but the coins in each roll are in circulated condition. Nothing special at all. At best I would make a $5 profit which just isn't worth it to me. Oh well. Maybe next time I'll get that silver collection from the bank.

Greetings all!

Picked up a box of halves and $200 in CWR dimes from two banks in a low income area. Haven't cracked into them yet. Will hopefully post positive results later.

Wanted to share a quick story that amused me.

I went to dump $200 in Ikes that I picked up about 2 weeks ago. There is a BofA near me that has notorious sniping tellers. I went to the bank and told the teller that i had some old coins I needed to cash in. After I said that the head teller immediately walked over and asked if any of the rolls included silver. :tongue3: I told him that I didn't know. I "inherited" the "silver dollars" and didn't bother checking. He kept his eyes on the rolls and did not leave the tellers side. After I got my cash, I thanked the teller for taking them off my hands and that they've been in our family forever. The head teller immediately took the rolls into the back to check for silver. I guarantee he'll get skunked. 8-)

Greetings all!

My last post on this thread was way back in October 2012. I had to take a little leave from CRHing. Bought a new car which reduced available funds and also had my first child!

Went out yesterday for the first time in a while. Focused on CWR dimes. Picked up $100 each from 3 bank branches along with $5 in loose halves. Skunk. Went to dump at TD. Penny was being very fickle today. For some reason she would only count 1 half dollar at a time before shutting down. The teller opened up the machine to check. While doing so she gave me all the rejects. Managed to find a 1943 Merc and a 1964 Roosie! My first reject silver!!! :headbang:

Another positive is that TD had to set their machine to accept $500 halves at a time instead of the normal (and annoying) amount of $100. Looks like I'll be dumping a lot of halves there from now on.

Good luck all!!!

Good to see you are still around here!

Congrats on the baby! You found something more valuable than silver or gold! :)

I always like reading your posts! Great job on the reject silver!

Thanks Boris!

Been slowly building up my bank roll. Picked up $100 in CWR dimes, $50 in BWR dimes, $20 CWR nickels and $15 in loose halves.

Only able to pull a 1957D Roosie from the CWRs and 6 pre-1960 nickels. I also managed to pull a penny from one of the nickel rolls. Not just any penny however...a 1913 Wheatie! What are the odds?

Good luck everyone!!!

Picked up $80 CWR dimes, $8 CWR Cents and $20 Nickels today. All in all had a decent day. Pulled 2 silver Roosies from a single roll, a 1945P War Nickel, a 1929 Buffalo and a 1944 Wheatie. Going to dump and pick up more CWRs tomorrow.

Good luck!

Just a quick update.

Dumped at TD today. Found 1 Roosie in the reject tray. After I finished dumping a man walked in with a big tub of coins. I heard the sweet sound of rejects going down the tube. After he finished I quickly ran to my car and grabbed a few coins to start the machine again. I pulled another silver Roosie from the tube. Nothing beats free silver!

Also picked up $55 in CWR dimes and $20 in CWR nickels which did not produce.

Good luck everyone!

Hello everyone!

Quick update.

Managed to find $130 in CWR halves yesterday. First time I've found CWRs for a long time. Two of the rolls were marked so I assumed it was a dump. All of the rolls were dumps except for 2. These two rolls included two impaired proofs: 1972S and a 1981S that can possibly be salvaged with an acetone dip. Also pulled a 1987D NIFC in great shape and a 1965. My first silver half since October 2012. The rolls also included a few mint set coins but I threw them back in.

As always pics are included!

Good luck everyone!

I haven't found a silver half since December, so I can feel your pain!

 Nice finds, man!

Just a little motivation to keep me going.

Picked up $100 in CWR Dimes, $100 in BWR Dimes and $14 in CWR Nickels.

Pulled a 1964D and a 1961 from the BWRs and a 1957 from the CWRs. :headbang:

Also received a 1966 Kennedy in the mail that I won from an auction on eBay. Got lucky and won the auction at $2.18 which is below spot. Heck of a deal!

Good luck everyone!

Hello everyone!

It's been a while since my last update. I've been doing a steady amount of CWRs. Mostly Dimes and Nickels. Started doing cents last week. Since my last update I managed to pull two silver dimes and a wheatie. Modest finds I know but it beats nothing. Silver is silver! One of the dimes however is my best dime find yet. It's what looks to be an AU 1942 Mercury dime! I don't have a loupe but it looks to have full split bands! I'm going to take it to a LCS for verification.

I also went to a Pawn Shop that's willing to sell me all the silver they come across for spot. I picked up a walker, ben, a $1 Silver Certificate Short Snorter and a $2 bill. Went back a few days later to pick up some commemorative silver rounds as well. The pawn shop owner is going to call me if any more coins come through.

As always, here are the pics:

Earlier in this thread you asked if this coin is an error and no one replied with an answer. Yes the coin is an error its called a struck through grease error but unfortunately the coin looks to be in circulated condition meaning that you probably would only get a dollar or two for it.
