Junes gloom is clearing up a little bit.

1 CW Quarter roll - Skunked

Halves

Box 1: 6/40%
Box 2: Lone 45 walker
Box 3: 2/40%
Box 4: Skunked
Box 5: Skunked

Earlier in the day I picked up a Colombian Expo Half in BU. I paid $16 for it. I know, it has the same silver content of a regular 90% Half but I have been trying to land one of these coins at auction for 6 months and have been unable to do so. No longer do I need to try.

Junes totals

12 - 40% Kennedy (1.7748)
1 - 1945 Walking Liberty (0.3617)
1 - War Nickel (0.0563)
2 - Roosevelt Dimes (0.1446)
1 - Magicians Coin 1990

Total found 2.3374 oz

Purchases

2 - 1969 Mint Sets ($8) (0.2958)
1 - Colombian 1893 expo BU ($16) (0.3617)

Total Purchased 0.6575 for $24

June Totals : 2.9949 oz for $30.65 or $10.23 an ounce

I hope I do better on my pulls for the next few weeks. I should have had 12 oz found at this point and I have less than 3 even with purchases.. June has been pathetic.

So.. got my 3 boxes from bank 1 today.

Box 1: Skunked
Box 2: 2/40%
Box 3: Skunked.

Dump box 1 and go to another bank to dump boxes 2 and 3. Their coin machine is down.. hrmmmm what to do.

Go to pick up bank 2, dump boxes 2 and 3 on them to use those funds to pick up 3 boxes of halves. Talk with the vault manager and I guess the lady covering for her while she was on vacation forgot to order my 3 boxes for the week. Oh well, I ask if she has anything else I might be interested in, she had $2000 in quarters... Ill take 1 bag of $1000 off your hands. Make the transaction and get home. Start searching and this is what I pull out..

107 silver rims.

Story will be continued tomorrow.

Wow! In a world where silver quarters are rare thats an amazing find!! I'm jealous, I've never found a silver quarter, let alone seen one.

Sorry, I was tired and wanted to get to bed, I had to go into work early so that I could work on my boat while others did inventory :D

So.. to continue the story. I found 106 silver rims accidentally got a quarter mixed into the bunch, and guess what.. not a single freaking one of them was a Washington Quarter. In fact, none of them were silver.. they were all Korean 100 won coins, dating from 82 to 2011. I managed to pull 12 out with one handful of quarters.

I am going to talk with the vault manager on Monday and see what she can do about it, otherwise I am out $26.50

I only did the quarters because I had nothing else to do. I didnt expect this sort of nonsense. I should have grabbed a couple hundred in nickels instead. I really do tire of doing nickels though, date checking every one is a chore.

man, all those silver edges looked like you hit the motherload, sadly not... hopefully something can be done, but from what I understand, it is "buy at your own risk"

Let me retract my previous statement. You got 10,600 won from that bag. That is only $9.14779 in exchange.

If you whine about getting shorted 20 bucks on your quarter gamble, don't expect them to sell you anymore bags.

It's your call. Get your money back, or eat it, and continue to play the game.

Getting 2 or 3 tokens in a $1000 bag of halves, fine, I can deal with that.

Getting 2 or 3 tokens or foreign coins in a bag of quarters, fine, I can deal with that.

Getting 106 foreign coins or tokens in a bag, that is quite a bit different. 5% of the bag was basically nothing useful, I cant even spend it. I cant by law even dump it into another coin machine at a bank, that is called fraud.

Worst that can happen is I am not reimbursed but they know what to look out for and possibly who to look out for. The coins were mixed all the way through the bag so it had to have been a large quarter dump at one time. Likely they will know who it was.

Best that can happen is that I get my money back.

I Normally dont purchase bags from them, I buy sealed boxes that they order for me. If I buy a roll of quarters, I expect a roll of quarters not a roll of pesos.

Tough call man. I would approach them in a, "hey, guess what was in that bag of quarters, anything we can do?" sort of way. Delicate situation especially if this bank is getting halves for you. I always say, cost of doing business. I took a $10 hit on a short bag of halves once. Sucks for sure.

Well, as I suspected I wont get reimbursed, I will just spend them in vending machines etc over time. I did let her know of the problem though and she said she will go over the records and try to figure out who it was. At least they will hopefully not have that problem again.

Maybe I can make a set out of them? :D

decent month, sorry to hear about the loss... i don't know how well the vending machines will accept them, but I can put canadian quarters into vending machines and click the coin return button to get american quarters back :laughing9: works like a charm too! go for it... you never know.
Hopefully July will be hot for you!

I'm going to have to try this. Canadian coins also work in parking meters for me. Give it a try.

Did $635 in dimes, got 2 Rosies
Did 2 boxes of Halves, got 1/40%

Going to finish the $132 in nickels tonight, doubt I will find anything. June has been as dry in silver as it has been in rainfall around here. Quite disappointing.
