Still waiting on my mom to get home from the hospital and I searched some coin to pass the time. One box of skunky halves and a box of nickels that was interesting. Found three pennies, one 1980-D copper, a 2008 zinc, and a "play money" fake penny. The "play money" penny roll was short a nickel, so I ended up 3 cents short. I got about $2 in pre-60 nickels, a 2009, a 5 cent Euro coin, and the best part of the day, a grungy looking full date 1927 buffalo nickel!

Searched another half dollar box, yielded 3 NIFC 2002 halves. Searched another nickel box and got $1.35 in pre-60 nickels, a dateless (nic-a-date shows 1916) buffalo, and a 1944-S silver nickel!

Got a whole bunch of $2 bills today and didn't find any red seals, but that's okay. Also got a nickel box plus $40 more in MWR to search. There were about 8 or 9 pre-60 nickels, but that was it in the $40. Then I got to the box. There was nothing super promising about the rolls, but I started searching them. I pulled not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4!!! silver war nickels! No buffs, but the war nickels were a nice find. I got a '42-P, a '43-P, a '44-P, and a '45-D. The rest of the box yielded about $2 in pre-60s. All in all, a great box.

Searched another nickel box and it yielded only 1 silver nickel. A nasty looking 1945-P, but it's silver.

Well, searched my $200 in nickels and got 35 pre-60s. That was IT. Disappointed... hoping a Tennessee box will yield better for me.

I got skunked on my $200 I carried with me to Knoxville, and got back home and searched a little bit. First box was a skunk, and the second one had this in it.



I think the one on the right is a proof 1970-S, but I wanted to be sure (I put another nickel up next to it for comparison). If anyone can second that, I will be okay. Still got one box to go through.

Did my other box and this one made up for the skunky boxes. Another loaded box with 4 silver nickels. '42-P, '44-D, '45-P, '45-S. Add that to the proof 1970-S nickel, and I'm a happy guy.

Disappointing for my first nickel ender box, but I got 2 war nickel enders ('42-S, '43-S; no more war nickels in the whole box, lame) and a dateless buff that looks like it's going to be a 1913, making it my oldest CRHing find! So there's that. Halfway done on my penny box, got about $2.50 in coppers, 3 common date wheats, and 3 2009 pennies that I need for my coin book.

Finished up on my penny box from last night. I have about 9 rolls of copper pennies, 3 wheaties, a 1969 Canadian penny, and a few zinc 2009s to finish up my Lincoln book.

That's what I thought too. I was hoping for at least 5 or 10, but this was my first box, so I wasn't planning on hitting a wheat/IHC hoard. And I would've liked to have more goodies in my nickel box, especially with 2 silver enders showing and a buff in the first 5 rolls, but I came up short there. Oh well. Thanks for looking, Mav, and hope all is well with you!
