Sweet score! Hopefully it turns out it's real, I'm no expert, but it looks real to me.

Definately a BANNER find!!! 1955 Doubled Die Obverse

Everything you want to know about the King of Double Dies.

    Eagle

The 1955 Doubled Die is considered
the KING of doubled dies. It is not
simply the king of Lincoln Cent
doubled dies, but the king of all
doubled dies. It is a Class I
    counterclockwise rotated hub doubling.
Doubling can be seen on the date,IN
GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, and on
    several points on Lincoln's picture.

Many counterfeits exist. It is advised
that buyers look for certified examples.
    Furthermore, beware of cleaned and
    whizzed examples. "
    Check for two faint
    die scratches leading downward from
the left bar of the T in Cent to establish
    authenticity
    " -The CherryPickers Guide
Fourth Edition Vol. 1 pg. 122. The
    reverse is also slightly rotated
    counterclockwise about 10 deg.

I brought it to a dealer whos first impression is that it is authentic. He's meeting up with another dealer over the next couple weeks and asked for my number. He would give me a call when the other dealer comes in so that he could look at it as well. After that, regardless of opinion, i will probably send it out to be certified. Thanks for the comments.

With an estimated mintage of something like 25,000 (Or, to put that in other terms, $250 face value), the odds of having one in your pile of wheats is infinitesimally small. Good luck though!

With a total montage in Philly in 1955 of 331,000,000 cents & 25,000 doubled dies minted, the odds of any given '55 being a dbl die is about 1:13,000!! What makes that find so amazing is that he pulled it from circulation! If you get 10 wheats in a box of 2500, yet odds of finding a '55 dbl die fall to about 1: impossible (like literally a WAY better chance of winning the lottery TWICE).

That's why I think it must've come from a collection.

Is this on the banner yet

Look for key dates also in the wheats.
1/100 of an American dollar is a cent. It is NOT a penny. The word penny is used by several other countries, such as Great Britain, to denote their smallest denomination. In order to be numismatically correct, you must use the term cent to describe the American coin.

On another forum, i've had another poster say this (Sorry, it doesn't look right at all to me. In fact, i've seen similar fakes). I'm going to take another approach to this coin. It's fake until proven authentic. It won't be such a disappointment then when it comes back as a counterfeit. If it is, i really haven't lost anything except some sleep. Thanks for all the comments, MM2.
