I went to get my haircut today and afterwards I stopped by the grocery store next door to check the two Coinstar machines.

A lone coin was in the reject tray, a very shiny 1943D war nickel. Lowest mintage of all war nickels at 15 million. This makes it my second find from a Coinstar reject tray the first being a 1942D quarter. Both are from the same store too.

Beware, large image!

Thanks for looking!

The image is small. That war nickel is only polished, it doesn't have mint luster.

Yes the image in the post is small, but the linked image when you click is larger. Just was giving a heads up.

I have a couple of war nickels that are polished. So I wasn't thinking it was mint luster. It's just a shock to see such a shiny nickel.

I was going to say, what a nice looking war nick, but then I noticed some wear on it so polished makes sense. Still looks nice though compared to most war nicks I see. Nice find.
