Lets say you buy the 1000 coins for $89 plus shipping...and after you make a piddly find, what are to become of the pennies?

You going to sell them to a friend or someone else and say that they are unsearched?

You going to recover your $89 or just roll them and sell on Ebay for less than you paid?

On the otherhand, if you don't take the risk, your not going to find that high dollar coin.

I vote to be careful with your money. I'm in the jewelry business now for 27 years and I have yet to see a GOOD DEAL in jewelry on Ebay. Makes me think the same is true about coins.

Being in your best interest, i vote, don't buy what you can't see

Tom
I agree,unless your the ebay seller! ;)

Twenty years ago there were no plastic "Seal-able" coin bags, they were all cloth. You can get the plastic ones free at any bank. If you take a close look at the picture of the bag, you will realize that the bag is not bank issued. The plastic bags are used for deposits from businesses. the reason for sealing them was to keep the employee who was driving the deposit to the bank from stealing any money. If the bank receives an open deposit bag, they will not accept it, and alert the business. If I had to guess, I would say he buys them in bulk and seals them up himself. I say it's a scam.

All types of BFOs owned. Especially want White's Arrow; White's Oremaster; Exanimo Spartan Little Monster; Garrett contract Little Monster.
The only unsearched coins I've ever bought was a $50 bag from the pawn shop this week. I watched him buy it and I bought it about five minutes later. I'll have three weeks free between now and the end of the year and i will sort through. Total I have 6500 wheats to look through. 1500 came from ebay but they didn't say they were unsorted. If you get an older bag that someone bought through coin world or numismatic news they used to guarantee a 1914-d or a 1931-s over and above what else was in there. Sometimes that bonus coin would be loose and sometimes it would be in a 2x2 so you could find it right away. When I bought these i was hoping that is what i would be getting. exanimo, siegfried schlagrule

Good luck on your search , I have well over 30,000 wheats an they have wore my eyes out looking through them over the years.
Best of luck, Ray

I did a decades sort of that bag today and here is what i found. There were seven BU memorials with the newest being 1960-d. I had 255 coins before 1940. Roughly one in twenty. About what i remembered of what i was getting in 1960 at the bank. I filled a 56 ounce plastic tub with coins of the 1940s. Many of the 1950s were BUs and spotted UNCs. There were a few bright 1940s coins. There were only three steel cents and most likely the original wholesaler tossed in a set as a bonus. There were a large number of semi-key 1954, no 1955-s and hundreds of 1944-d that I will check for the d over s variety. There were no 1955 / 1955 double dies but lots of 1955 poor mans shifts. The three best coins found were a high grade 1931-d, a damaged 1931-s (gouged) and a just barely all there 1914-d (the 1 9 1 and d are clearly visible - all you can see of the 4 is the very left tip). If I wanted to sell it I would have to get it slabbed. Here is a frequency count of all the before 1940 coins. I would only buy another bag locally so that i could avoid shipping charges. I had forgotten just how long it takes to sort a bag. exanimo, siegfried schlagrule
