Occasionally I Read of the quality of mint sets going down hill.

Apparently this was one of them.

I'm sure it is worth a premium to the right collectors.

Looks like a struck through grease error. I've been told they arent worth anything but who knows. I have one I found in my change one day.

Maybe it was a filled mint die? I'd have it checked out by your Coin Dealer. Mine always gives me value on any coins I come across.

thanks folks, i know it is a struck through grease error, but don't knwo if that adds value to a sealed mint set? i would never crack it open or cut off the quarter, i would leave the set together. still awaiting other opinions,

I'd have to guess that it is a struck through grease error coin. You should be able to find a buyer for it.
