I was digging through my grandpas dug up coin box and found a stack of 4 silver quarters (all worth about a buck 50), and one 1978 quarter. I thought it was a little out of place when I noticed the "D" was completely smooth. Has anyone seen this before on the 78 quarter? Do you know if it's worth anything or is it spending money. I dont have the latest Redbook. The one I have is an 01 edition and it doesn't list this as an error of the 78. Here is a pic.

I checked my 2007 redbook and the PCGS website and found no info on this coin. Maybe someone else can help.
Best Regards, Ray

D's and P's get filled in like that when the dies get old. Fairly common.

All types of BFOs owned. Especially want White's Arrow; White's Oremaster; Exanimo Spartan Little Monster; Garrett contract Little Monster.
On the 1982 dime there was an error like the 1922 penny. The mint miark got clogged and stamped coins that looked like they had no mint mark. Both errors are valuable with the penny being worth more. exanimo, siegfried schlagrule
