First of all, how would you react when you see something like this?:
9TpSMh.jpg
I went to one of the many banks in my home area the other day requesting a box of dimes. This was the first time I had requested so much coin from them, and they told me they would call me the following week to let me know when the box had arrived. They did call me Tuesday to let me know the box had arrived. I told them I would not be able to swing by until the following day, but that quickly changed when my plans after work changed, leaving me going near that bank the same day after all. Good thing I did! I arrive at the bank and the tellers were closing out their drawers as they were closing the bank. They saw me, and got the box out, but I had also asked if they had come across any customer rolled coins that day. One teller said "yes, we have some very old customer rolled dimes, and some quarters, how many were you looking for?" And of course, what would I or any sane CRHer say?..
A) Nevermind, please give me my box of dimes, and I will be on my way
B) I will just have one roll of customer rolled dimes, and then I will take the box
C) Just a few rolls
D) How many do you have?
If you don't know the right answer to this question, then welcome to coin roll hunting!
I took all of those coins. All of them! And I'm glad I did; CRHing brethren, because out of $400 face ($300CWR Dimes, $100CWR Quarters) this is what I pulled!:
zk20gh.jpg 9S0M0h.jpg 6lKCeh.jpg KSfjjh.jpg tkFB7h.jpg mPJtMh.jpg

When all was said and done, I had to line up all the dimes and quarters into a row on my coffee table
TYadTh.jpg

So here is the run-down on what I found (All stacks are 10 coins each):
qncGQ.jpg
600 silver dimes, 157 silver quarters, 1 priceless memory (without visa to thank)
LieOB.jpg
534 Roosevelt dimes, 65 Mercury dimes, 1 Canadian Rex dime, 154 Washington quarters, 2 standing quarters, 1 Barber quarter (1910)
$99.25 face value in silver coins.

Now, the question is, where do I go from here? Can I have some advise from others on here whom have hit the jackpot? Please help your lucky weasel in need! I guess I will just keep hunting and hoping for another amazing find! Happy hunting, and wishing all of you guys your very own finds of a lifetime!

Thanks all! It was a huge rush, and I kept flipping out while my girlfriend mocked me. Once she saw how much silver was in the rolls, the mocking stopped and she wanted to go to her bank and buy some for herself, thinking she might hit a jackpot. Wishing you guys all a load of luck, and that you all get your own dream finds one day too! Happy hunting!

Wow. That's a crazy awesome find. You certainly don't see too many people on here finding barber quarters. What's the date on the Canadian?

Thanks man. Yes, the Barber took me as a surprise, as did the two standing quarters. I believe the Canadian dime was a 1947.

That's awesome, you could get over $2000 for all that and use it to buy halves.

I like your strategy, but I believe the expression goes "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." I will hold on to my silver, and use my current $700 bank roll to buy up my halves. When I get paid in a few weeks, I will up my bankroll to accomodate about $1500 in halves, but until then, there are so many banks around my job that I never have an issue finding half boxes or CWRs.

Holy bleeping bleep you lucky bleep!

#1 How are the tellers not keeping these rolls?

A. Are those mentally handicapped tellers you found?:icon_scratch:
B. Are They blind???
C. Are they deaf?:icon_scratch:
D. Are they just that dumb???

I know lots of tellers & everyone of em would have snatched those rolls up by sound alone.. Not to mention the rolls say SILVER right on em. Matter of fact the all the tellers working would have been fighting over them! I just can't comprehend such stupidity from someone (a freaking teller) that sure as heck should know what they had & that's a free vacation sitting right in front of em. I wanna cry a little now... You are a lucky I mean lucky person! & like others have said it's all down hill from here for you!

#1. Buy those tellers a few pizzas for lunch sometime soon.

#2. Great, great score, tops my best ever face value score.

#3. Roll it, toss it in your SDB... silver is moving up right now, if you really want to sell and need the money, hold onto them another 3-4 weeks at least to try and gauge what silver is doing.

#4. Did I say that's a great score? Wow.

For real, I should definitely do something nice for those tellers. One teller must have known what I was about to take, because she looked very unhappy and did not respond to my kindness and pleasantries while I was chatting as they were rounding up my coins. Food is certainly in their futures!

Nice man. Any good early dates/mintmarks in the Washingtons or Mercuries?

You know, I still need to look through them for early dates and mintmarks. I will let you know what I come up with!

I recently bought 'scrap' 90% silver when spot was at 31.78. the conversion rate was 22.25 x face value. today silver is slightly higher, and on a rough (very rough) quick look you have >$100 face. be sure you find a reputable buyer. some people want to undercut dimes because of wear, but those look like they have been in the roll a very long time and aren't really thin. BTW if you find a 1917D merc dime, give me a PM.

Nice job BTW. our tellers caught on to the 'heavy rolls' and keep them for themselves now!:BangHead:

Very nice score! :icon_thumleft:

I hit a pretty good score last year, but I am not sure what your, "where do I go from here" comment is asking. Are you asking if you should sell? Should you quit because you will most likely never top this score even if you CRH every day for the rest of your life? Or are you asking something else entirely?

Thank you! I would never sell, no. I won't stop searching rolls for a long time. I just keep stacking and putting those babies in my SDB. I guess my question was more along the lines of "has lighting ever struck twice for any of my fellow coin roll hunters?" regarding finding a big score like this.

January of this year, I scored 6 solid rolls of silver. 5 rolls 40%ers and a roll of walkers. Nothing like this. In July, I scored 8 rolls mixed walkers and franklins. So yes, big scores do happen... I get one every 6 months or so. :)
