When I was searching a box of pennies I came across one that sounded like a Canadian penny. When I searched for it I came across a 1976 Lincoln Penny that only weighed 2.4 grams. It is slightly thinner than a normal Lincoln. Does anyone have an idea of what might have happened to this coin or what it might be worth? It's the coin in the middle in the picture below.

There was an experimental penny struck in bronze-clad steel in '74. See if it sticks to a magnet.:dontknow:
The Zinc cents weigh 2.5 grams, perhaps they were experimenting with zinc in '76.......interesting.

Near the turn of the twentieth century, there was a study done when a person died, about a gram of weight went away the very second that person died and they thought it was the soul. It has been proven wrong since though. But, I think it still applies to cent's I think it's soul died, and lost some weight as a result.

It's actually 7 pounds...according to Will Smith...
