Silver, Seated, a Carson City, and a key date!

Sounds like a good find! Doesn't get much better than that!

Curious how a coin that old is still in circulation and happens to be in philadelphia. What are the chances?

I think a tiny fraction of silver we found have actually remained in circulation, meaning that they have been obtained from banks and been used for purchases normally time and time again without someone removing them from a collection. Most silver has spent time in a collection or two. That seated dime, since it was a key date, could even have been culled in the early 1900s, been passed down a generation or two, and accidentally or ignorantly returned to a bank. No way that thing hasn't been culled at least once.

I've seen 'em sell for $100 certified in much worse condition then that. I'd say if you send it off you could get a few hundred for it

do you date search? what did the side of that look like, silver or just a thin dirty dime? the latter is tough to recognize
