How many cents in a 5 gallon bucket?

    Hello,

I am thinking about selling my copper cents and have about two 5 gallon buckets full. Does anyone know approx. how many cents fit in a 5 gallon bucket? Answers I have found online range from $300-500. Can anyone tighten that gap for me? Thanks. HH!!

Weight them. A penny weighs 2. 5 grams which is ~0.006 lbs, so what ever the bucket weights divide it by .006

A zinc penny weighs 2.3-2.6 grams
A copper penny weighs 2.9-3.1 grams

I have had copper ones come in at 2.8 and 3.2 before but its uncommon.

Get a measurement cup used in the kitchen. There are 16 cups to a gallon and 80 cups in 5 gallon. Count how many pennies in a cup multiply by 80 to get how many pennies then divide by 100 to get dollars. Then multiply that by 2 since you have 2 five gallon jugs. I would say right at $650.

Selling them online + time and hassle = cheaper to just dump them in a coin machine, homie.

Well I went to the trouble of sorting them. I put an ad on craigslist. If someone wants to pick them up they can buy them for 1.5-2 per. Otherwise they can sit at my place a while longer.

I thought the whole point of saving copper pennies was to hold on to them while the price of copper goes up?

Hold onto them until its legal to melt, and sell at current prices.
