EE's January thread is ringing in the new year with some AG

Wont do a full listing until Saturday's auctions are over but...

Sold my EF 1914 barber dime for $20 to the local shop, I got it for 10 cents so major profits.

I also sold some online property in a video game and made another $13.75 from that which I put into some silver.

So below is what I got for free.

2 Roosevelt Dimes ($0.00/0.1446)
5 Washington Quarters ($0.00/0.9040)

6 Boxes of halves, bag of dimes and nickels, 3 possibly 4 auctions due this week. Going to be busy.

Scored a 1941 Canadian Half off a guy who I buy coins off of every now and then when he finds them. He works for the sanitation dept here in town and finds coins and jewelry from time to time. Says he has a couple half dimes as well along with a bag of foreign coins for me to look at soon.

Fridays auction has tons of jewelry and some coins of unknown country's. Should be a good score.

I will update after the weekend to save bandwidth.

Well, I now have a whole lot of free silver money but I dont know if I want to use it for that lol.

Since this whole Supreme Leader deal on the weapon ban today, I decided to hit the local shop, pick up a couple 25 round 45 ACP magazines for a glock and resell them. Picked them up for $70 ea and sold them for $196 ea shipped. Torn between just buying silver from the auction with the approx $240 in profits, buying junk silver from the local shop with the profits, putting the money into my CRH fund or buying a new fish finder for my boat, I really need GPS for night fishing so I dont get lost in the pitch black.

Such a dilemma to deal with.

So, earlier this week I purchased a 1941 Canadian half off a guy for $5.

I picked up some .45 ACP 25 round magazines for a Glock for $150.1 and resold them for $345 after Papal fees and Shipping costs.

I went back, picked up Five 10mm - 15 round magazines for a Glock and put those up online, paid $160 total for them, currently have two sold for $155 shipped, after paypal fees and shipping I should make $140 on the two, which will equal about $210 profit on my $160 investment.

I am currently looking for more 'investment opportunities' but the inventory is drying up.

I did 7 boxes of halves total this week.

Box 1: 1/40% - 1/1964 - 3/Franks
Box 2: 4/40%
Box 3: Skunked
Box 4: Skunked
Box 5: 1/40%
Box 6: 1/40%
Box 7: 1/40%

A couple of the halves were so black and nasty I would have missed them from edge checking.

I also did

70 rolls of CWR nickels - 1/War
134 rolls of CWR Dimes - 1/Rosie
2 rolls of CWR Quarters - Skunked

Friday nights auction was not too bad but it was not the greatest either. The Ukrainian guy was there which is my main competition so now we are working together to make sure we both make money. My eyes caught silver the second I walked in and I made a B line to some knives. As I reach out to grab one, I hear in a deep Ukrainian accent, they Fedorov, they are real. To explain the name, I was wearing my Russian Olympic Hockey Jersey with #91 Sergei Fedorov on it. So.. He asks me if I am wanting to bid on it and I say yes and he asks how much I am going to go to and I said I dont know, why not work together, one of us bids and we split the cost and the 4 knives in half. We decide that if it goes above $60 I am out and he can keep them all. We end up picking up the knives for $12 total, so $3 per knife or $6 per person. I stripped mine the next day and came up with 38 grams of sterling silver or 1.13 oz of silver content.

I sold two nazi coins I picked up in another auction to the Ukrainian because he had a buyer, I made $6 on the deal, perfect for the price of the knives.

We wait around for a few hours for them to get to the jewelry. With the number of people I chose not to weigh many items and I lost on on that but better safe than sorry. Vlad the Ukranian won the bids on a few items that I bailed out on and he picked up on. One necklace I left at $25 he got for $30, turned out to be about $42 worth of silver in it. Its weight spread out was deceiving. If I could have weighed it I would have stayed on it. I did manage to walk away with two rings, one worth a tad over $4 and another worth about $1 but its pretty cool. Its got a patent number marked inside of it, I call it ring 2763140 . Not sure if the stone in it is real for not, ill take it down and have it checked. Vlad picked up a necklace marked 14k but it seemed too shiny for me, he got it for $60 and if its real, its worth $360.

Todays auction netted me a single coin, 1966 Canadian silver dollar for $17.50 everything else went for way too much.

For now I am using free silver money but I am seriously considering using that money on a new gps/downscan sonar for the boat. The more fish I catch, the more money for stacking I have.

Hey EE, that was a good read there, glad you made out on the knives, it's cool that you could work with the guy on those, that was a nice deal!
I am still amazed at your log here, again, wish I had the discipline to keep my finds as organized. HH, Maverick.

Hey EE, rough week there, sorry to hear that, I was hoping to read an interesting auction story this week, oh well, I know about not missing a nice day out on the boat, don't really get to take ours out very much anymore here lately. Go dump into that half bag and fill it up so you can buy it! Good luck with the bag! HH, Maverick.

Its been tough since July lol.

I was hoping for an intersting story, the pictures of the items looked interesting but once I got there, that interest left me like a bad Mexican meal after 2 cups of coffee, with a gut bubbling quickness.

Right now nothing of interesti in the next weeks auctions but there is no telling what could be there so I always go.

Friday auction has some jewelry, I dont know what though, could be good, could be bad. Pictures should be my way on Wednesday .

Saturday auction has what appears to be 9/40% halves for sale, some possibly sterling silverware, misc coins, some possible sterling charms, some costume jewelry which may hold a surprise and a possible sterling platter which will more than likely turn out to be plated. It might be worth the 30 miles drive to the auction place for the 40% halves. I find that most people know nothing about them and most of those who do, dont care for them so I generally get them for $2-$3 ea. At $4 ea I could break even on gas.

Dumped my halves, picked up dimes and nickels.

Not sure how I didnt notice, perhaps it was the lack of sleep from last night and being in a hurry but I got over charged on the coin I picked up. I am going back to make sure they didnt do a mathematical error on their part someplace but I got about $110 in nickels and was charged for $220. I went and grabbed the bag to search it and it felt awfully low in the weight dept.

$488 in dimes searched, 1 Rosie found
$110ish in nickels searched, nothing found.

I will have them rerun the nickels and double check the tabs in the trash from each bag of nickels tomorrow ( hopefully they didnt dump the trash ).

I dont see a problem with them refunding me as I have returned bags twice that they had not charged me for and $100ish worth of quarters they accidentally threw into a bag of dimes. They know I dont take whats not mine so that should work in my favor.

$93.60 in nickels.

She says her drawer came back correctly yesterday so I will dump some halves and dimes tomorrow and some more on Friday and get back with her on Saturday. She said that if I only have $93.60 in nickels than I should have 615 in dimes instead. I guess I will know shortly since the two machines I will be dumping on give me a denomination tally both in coins counted and total value.

I hope it all adds up.

First 'half' of the dimes dumped, came up with $289.30 on that bag with $250 of halves and 5 handfuls of nickels.

Tomorrow the second half will be dumped, that half should be a little heavier on dimes than the first.

I should hopefully see $325.80 in dimes on this second half, that will make it add up correctly.

On a somewhat good note, came across my 3rd wide rim/near date SBA ever, I would call it AU. Seems they dont command too much of a premium but they are still pretty rare, I will look around for a buyer on Craigslist or Ebay.

Now its time to think of a Feb thread title, time is running out.

Well, I dumped the last of the dimes and came up with $324.40. Minus the single rosie and a few misc dimes I pocketed because they were dumped to the reject tray ( I spend those ) I think it all worked out fine so things are good as good can be.

And February thread incoming with hours to spare :D
