So I just got finished with my 3rd nickel box of the night and it was the best so far:

14- 1947 and earlier Jefferson
1- 1897 V
1- 1937s buff
1- 1929d buff
1- 1936d buff
1- 1917d buff
1- 1935 buff
1- 1915s buff (hard to see date but that's what it is)
1-1930 buff
1- 1934d buff
1- dateless buff

This is obviously someone's collection dump. The previous box had 1- 1893 V, 2- 1936 buff and 2- 1937 buffs. If only every box could be like this.

Thanks. It makes me feel better about getting skunked on my halves.

The 15-S is a good date. Even in G-4, my 2011 redbook shows it as a $50 coin. There were only 1,505,000 minted. The 17-D is another good one with only 9,910,000 minted and a G-4 value of $18. Very nice boxes.

Now I just need to find somewhere to convert those to silver. I think the old coins are great, but I'm not really in it to collect anything but silver. The only reason I search nickels is to hold me over until I get more halves. They take so much longer to go through, so it gives me something to do while watching tv.

Mountain man,

Is there an app for the redbook or do you have an actual book?

I forgot to add that I had a 1943 and 1944 nickels as well.

Awesome score.. Lots of buffs too which is obviously a good sign of a collection dump.. Now stop at other branches and try to get some more boxes with the same stamp.. Maybe you will hit some more of it

I have the actual book. The redbook shows the average dealer sell price. You would not get that if you wanted to sell. Some of the larger book stores have a hobby section where you can purchase coin books. The buy price is probably somewhere around 60% of Redbook value for most common coins. Of course, if the coins value is based on silver value alone, you might be able to get closer to 100% of what is shown.

Just finished the last box.

1- 1899 V
1- 1903 V
2- 1936 buffs
1- no date buff

Unfortunately I ordered these boxes a couple weeks ago and juts got to them so I'm sure the rest of this collection dump is in retail circulation by now. Still not too bad. I will post a pic of the finding shortly.
