Finally got my first coinstar gold. This was sitting under the coin tray. Had to use gum and a pencil to get it out. Tested 14kt and nice deep purple amethyst.

Congrats!! Can you please explain about "under the coin tray"? The Coinstar machines that I've seen don't have any parts removable except with opening it with a key.

The perforated coin shoot. It must have fallen thru a hole. I keep a pencil with the eraser removed and stick a small wade of gum on it. I then stick it thru the hole to grab the item. I find lots of ear rings and small jewelry but this is the first gold. Can't weigh it because of the stone.

Oh man, you fished that out of the undertray?! That's pretty awesome. You earned it. I have seen things in that tray before and asked the coinstar guy who was emptying the machine if I could get in there and he said, "No." Congrats! HH!

I am the same person. I used a gum and pencil but I could not get the stone to stick so I called the lady over to open it. Sorry for the confusion. I uploaded the treasurenet post on my Iphone and abbreviated the story.
