Sorry--what's a "dryer dime" and what makes it small and thick???

Coins get stuck in commercial clothes dryers and are removed when the machine is serviced. This can be weeks, months, or years. (There really is some horrible specimens out there.) The continual tumbling against the internal drum causes the tell-tale signs of the rolled and fattened rims.

Appreciate the lesson. It explains a piece or two I have seen.
