Can you just search nickels for silver by just looking at the reverse?

I remember when I was young...(a long time ago,...but not to me) Indian head nickels were everwhere!
Popsicles (2 per pkg) cost 5 cents...remember "dreamsicles"? Orange and vanilla? ...7 cents, (don't know why).
Silver half dollars were so common, sometime dollars, that you ignored them....how silly, if we knew what we know today.

But, isn't that true for everything today!
