Found 2 seated liberty dimes, in approximately 30-40k searched. Out there, just not very common. Weird, I haven't even found a barber yet.

Found a Barber quarter when I made a massive solid roll score last September. I found a Barber half from a box in November. They are still out there!

Not me - my oldest coin in the wild is probably a wheat or walker from the teens.

I found a 1913 barber dime a week or two ago.

22 Barbers and 3 Seated. One seated was 1837 which was the transition year -- last year of Capped Liberty and first Seated.
'

All were dimes.

Found a Barber Half, about ~10-15 IHs, an 1863 civil war token. Still have yet to find a seated in the wild (although I have picked up a Seated Half Dime earring for 25 cents, I've yet to find one at face).

I just found one of those Civil War tokens from the same year. Awesome looking token with the "Union Forever" on the reverse.

They are out there, but the closest i've come to a barber would be a 1916 merc(s mintmark unfortunately).

5 barber half dollars in a bag about 3 years ago. 1 barber quarter in the reject bin a couple of years ago and 2 barber dimes in bags. The most recent was a 1907 last week. Other things found in bags include 2 large cents (in half dollar bag) a 3 cent nickel in a dime bag and of course my all time great find about 6 months ago was a 1909S-VDB Cent. Sent it off to PCGS and it came back VF35.

Teach me how to Metal Detect ???
And how many dimes you search? Were those in your earlier days? recent?

Hi Wicka, you don't need a teacher, just get out a do it!
I found the barbers all in one shot a few years ago, they were in a 12-box order along with several mercs and rosies. No barbers since then.
I've only searched about $5k in dimes so far this year.

I don't do halves, but I know someone who does. They usually pull 1 or 2 40% per box but pulled a barber a few days ago. They are still out there, but it's all about the timing.

Found a 1906 Barber half a few months ago in 1 of 3 solid 90% CWRs, mixed in w/ Walkers, Bens & '64s. My favorite find was a '72 doubled die Lincoln when I was 13 (1986). Sold it to LCS for about $100 (that was a good payday for a kid back then, but I wish I had kept it now). My best nickel find from a roll was a 1921S Buffalo. Still have it.
