I went last week to pick up some cents as usual. One Teller asked me if I've found anything interesting lately and I told her I found a Steel Cent, Her reply was. "Wow I wonder how we didn't get that one." Can the coin machines sort out coins that are made of steel or something? Found it kind of odd. This teller also doesn't like me, so I don't use her anyway..

of course it sorts out steel, otherwise they'd have a ton of canadian, counterfiet, magnetic, CC coinage, all junk. If a coin machine was not able to discern between steel, they would not use um cause they would loose so much money.

Most(if not, all) coin machines have a magnet somewhere in them to pick out coins that are steel, etc, in the machine, and a 1943 cent is steel and magnetic, therefore, it gets culled out technically robbing the dumper since their cent isn't counted nor returned.

I've pulled a steel cent from a coin counter magnet. It was stuck in a big clump with a lot of foreign.

I find at least one a week stuck to the magnet, between all of my dump banks.
