I have to ask what is PMD?

My change back from the guy at my local coin shop included a 1939 Nickel today, was pretty pumped about that.

PMD = post mint damage meaning the damage or "error" or "variety" was not original from the mint...it happened after the coin was released into circulation.

I figured this was a PMD coin but thought I'd ask the experts before tossing it back!
