Hey folks, I don't post often as there are usually no finds worthy of being posted by me except for little errors here and there... I honestly don't think it is worth making a whole new thread for one silver war nickel.

Anyway, I don't always date check my boxes, but recently having luck with errors, I decided to check my half dollar boxes for the 1982 "no FG" error... I always check when I come across them, even when I don't date check.(sometimes they are enders or decide to stick out to me)... I'd say on average, I only get 2-3 1982 minted halves(both mints) per box, so the odds are against me for finding this error.

Check out the pictures of the 1982P "no FG" error I found, it took me 4 years and thousands of 1982 halves later, but I finally found one, and in decent shape too.
Any input on rarity and value would be appreciated, Thanks!

Funny I found one this week as well!
Not in the best shape.. But a keeper for sure!

Pretty random I don't date check a whole lot but for some reason I pulled this one out and bam!

Nice! Thanks for sharing, they may call us "klad lovas" but hey, sometimes it pays to be one :-) I have no intentions on selling mine though :)

I didn't know about this error until I read this tread, I went and looked at my partial roll of halves that I use to replace the spots of my keepers and found a 1982, I looked at he fg and compared it to a different half dollar and the g is pretty visible but the f is a lot less visible, how do I tell if its an error or worn? Thanks!

To be a true no "fg" there will be nothing what so ever.

Gratz on your find BuffaloBoy!! Is it a valuable error? I found a 1977 no FG and held onto it but didn't know if they were worth anything or not.

Nice find, Buff! Those are much harder than the '74d dbl die. I have found 5-6 82p no fgs over the last couple years. I sold all of them but 1 - a nice Unc coin. I don't date search anymore either, so I haven't found one in a while.

I think I got about $10-20 or so for each of them on eBay.

Keep an eye out for the '72d no FG - that one is really rare and worth $100+. I also found a '72 (p) doubled die - very cool & rare & better doubling than the '74d ddo.

Happy hunting, bro!

Oh ya - one more thing. For all of you PCGS registry set people...

The 82 p no FG for the longest time wasn't recognized in the variety set. I thought it was crazy, since it was a legit variety & a popular one to boot. I sent an email to them asking why and a few weeks later, they officially added it to the set!

Prob just a coincidence, but still cool.

HH all.

checked all my 40%'s...all fg's! I'll be keeping one eye open for these non-compliant coins! :icon_pirat:

There are a grip more errors out there than just missing FG's. May want to check into it.

Thanks folks, it's a neat coin and isn't in crappy shape either, I have several "weak FG" halves that I have seen, but never actually found a true "no FG" until this one :)
