Sleepy's Most Wanted (Roosevelt Dimes)

After having searched through $7,110 worth of dimes, I figured I'd get a Whitman Coin book (1946-1964 Dimes). I'm going to make it my goal to fill it by the end of the year! To the right is my "Most Wanted" List to help keep track of my progress. I want all of my finds to be from CRHing, so I won't be purchasing any of them. Here goes nothing! :headbang: 1)1955

Started the day by having my first ever trash can silver coin find! To be clear, I don't go sorting through coffee cups and such to find a coin, but if there's a coin or two in plain sight, I take em. Today, my "1964 FDR radar" went off when I saw a dime on top of an empty baggie in the close to overflowing trash can next to the coin counter. Sure enough - 1964D! Then in today's box, the first roll produced an 'S' dime. Unfortunately, once again, it was one I already had. Thought it might be a good sign for a big box, but it ended up only giving me one more. Overall, 3-dime day. Funny how low volume can outproduce some of the high volume outings I've been having lately.

We've got coinstar threads and maybe we need a trash can thread! I found my first CRH Barber dime last year - not in a roll but in the trash can along with a pile of foreign coins beside one of the coin machines where I dump. Some advice for trash can hunting is to hunt them before lunch when they fill with fast food and sub wrappers and drink containers. And yes, I know there are cameras there that record us pulling coins out of the trash...

If I'm pulling a '64 outta the trash, you KNOW I'm going all in for a barber! I've searched over 1.3M in dimes ($130k) and I've yet to find a barber dime. The day is coming...maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but MAY-BE tomorrow.

Looks like CWR's are the only source for silver lately.

Your perseverance is very impressive! Do you have a count handy of how many boxes of dimes you have done since starting the project? I'm very curious.

Wow I would have thrown in the towel after that Tuesday result. Ouch man. I’m a little surprised with your results. I’ve done about 20 boxes of dimes this year. I don’t keep track of per box, I order 4 at a time and look at them as a group of 4, but only had one week under 4 silvers.

2013: $98,500
2014-2018: $2550
2019: $35,665

TOTAL: $136,715, equivalent to 546.86 boxes (~85-90% of my volume has been boxes)

Yeah, my find rate in 2013 was about 1 FDR per $257 searched, basically 1 per box. In 2019, it's about 1 FDR per $469, or closer to 1 per 2 boxes. Then again, these results are from two different states, so not necessarily an apples to apples comparison.

Wow that’s a lot. Have you tried your
Luck with boxes of halves?

Did pretty well with halves in 2013:
Volume: $29,980.50
Barbers: 2
Walkers: 4
Bens: 4
1964: 7
1965-69: 162

Results so far for the couple months I've been back in 2019:
Volume: $2,327.00
1965-69: 11

Yeah, I get silver where I can, but my ultimate goal is to fill my Whitman FDR Folder.
