Sleepy's Most Wanted (Roosevelt Dimes)

After having searched through $7,110 worth of dimes, I figured I'd get a Whitman Coin book (1946-1964 Dimes). I'm going to make it my goal to fill it by the end of the year! To the right is my "Most Wanted" List to help keep track of my progress. I want all of my finds to be from CRHing, so I won't be purchasing any of them. Here goes nothing! :headbang: 1)1955

I got some dimes with tough rolled crimps on both ends. Wound up using a small cutting pliers to snip the crimp.

Might have to try that. It's just coin roll hunting...it shouldn't be this hard!

Sleepy & Mega: when I open up MWR's I use a small 1-2 inch blade pocket knife, poke the ends and rip off, unroll in your palm of your hand, rim check, then dump in bucket. It's almost like gutting a fish. Unless your date checking, I was able to go thru a box very quickly.

Not every day you get two 1943 coins from different denominations. The steelie has a lot of detail, too. Take a look:

Sleepy's Most Wanted List

Week Results
Dimes
$5335 (21.34 boxes) - 15 FDRs and 1 Merc

Notable: 1943 Steel Cent

Total Ag: 1.157 oz

Nice recovery after last week's disaster of just 6 silver FDRs. This week's good results make 3 of the last 4 weeks with 15 or more FDRs and 7 of the last 8 weeks with 10 or more FDRs. As for the Most Wanted hunt, my model is now telling me I need to find 42 FDRs on average to fill the next hole. We've found 22 FDRs since the '47S a few weeks back, so it's looking like we're on track for somewhere around 8 Nov for the next find. Although, you never know what's in that next box! HH! :sleepy2:

...my model is now telling me...

As a fellow numbers junkie, I so admire that you've broken this down to statistical probability. Yet also disappointed that it will end in March when you move cities again. Only the great GMan came close to being this analytical with his figures. I only wish more would do it here. Heck, I wish more people would simply post their pics vertically and list dates! Alas, not everyone can be Rosco53.

GMan is in the CRHing Hall of Fame! :goldtrophy: Only wish I woulda found the hobby a few years earlier. Yeah, I love number crunching...but in reality, my spreadsheets simply hold me over until I can get my hands on the next roll! :laughing7:

ARE.YOU.KIDDING.MEEEE?!?!?! My first ever Barber Dime is followed up by a Most Wanted Find!!! :headbang: UNBELIEVABLE!!! This is my first barber dime, but third barber coin. I had a good bit of beginner's luck when I found a 1907 and a 1907D in my first $9066 searched for halves. Today's 1914 is pretty slick, but I'll celebrate her the rest of the year. Only took over $174,105 in dimes searched to find this beauty. Let us not lose focus here though; the 1953's reign of terror has ended...EVERY PHILLY HAS NOW BEEN FOUND! :hello2: Big, big day...that's 44 down, 4 to go!

Woo hoo!!! And you predicted it!

Yeah, he's hangin' in there! Feel like it should be any week now...

But no way you could have guessed his 105-year-old companion. That's a stellar find right there, and only 74 more Barbers to go! That 1894-S is a toughie. :laughing7:

On to the Roosie Final Four!

SKUNK OR TREAT!! Well, we got one of each. Today's 1936D is my 24th unique mercury dime find in the 77 coin set. This merc had a little bit over 16M minted, my second lowest so far. (1916S - 10.45M)

It's getting harder to find silver lately, but that much more difficult to pull a merc. I myself just pulled a 41-P merc the other day. Maybe a sequel to that movie "Mercury Rising", with more to come. Might be someone scattered a Mercury collection across the country.
