I'm still on cloud 9

Last night's box of halves (#25 for the year) yielded fifty one (51) keepers. My best percentage yet.

Best of all, of the fifty one keepers, all but eleven were 90%ers ! It was amazing !

Here's the break out:

Seven (7) Walkers: 45Dx2, 44P, 42D, 38P, 4XD (crud covering date), 18P (?) pretty worn
Twenty one (21) Franklins: 63Dx5, 63P, 62D, 58P, 57Dx2, 54S, 54D, 54P, 53D, 52P, 51S, 51Px2, 49D)
Twelve (12) 90% JFKs: 64Dx3, 64Px9

Nine (9) 40% JFKs: 69Dx3, 68Dx3, 67x3

Lastly, a 92S and an 87D.

I've read where folks have had higher percentages, or found entire rolls of silver, but this box was awesome and the number of Walkers and Franklins easily outnumbering the JFKs just blew me away.

I hope some of you have similar luck this weekend; and Happy Groundhog Day everyone.

Re: I'm still on cloud 9

While running some errands this afternoon......

Picked up $9 in loose halves; among them were a 64D and a 65.

While returning some rejects to a coin counter, the bag filled up. ;) When they opened it up to do the bag change and re-set, I noticed three Ikes in (not the rejected coin slot) but another bucket-type device that customers don't have access. I asked if I could buy them; and the guy said "no problem". They were a 72P, 77D.......and a 76S (cupro-nickel Variety 1).

But just to show that everything I touch lately doesn't turn to gold (or silver in this case), later, from two different banks, I picked up 19 rolls .....and got skunked.

Happy hunting all

That 18P ? is that a walker? Is that an 18?? as in 1800's. Please post a pic.

Nice Finds all around!

I searched 1 box yesterday, skunked, 1 box this morning - skunked, and finally got $250 worth on my way home and got 10 40%, and 3 1964, and some in the 2003 - 2006 range, also picked up a bicentenial Ike.

Yes, Yes, the little silver color box that we do not have access to in the coin return machine, I sure wish I did. I have seen them poor it out on a desk and go through them. Outside the bolts and screws they get some good coins for sure. Only one time after the machine jammed did they pull out the magic cup and let me search through it. I got an ike and the sacawacha (?) dollar.

I have also found good coins in the tray we do have access to and in cups people leave. In fact today, while returning coins, I got some dutch, italian and other european coins. I need to look up. The best I got form the coin machine was a 1869 2 cent piece (US). Its in poor condition, but I still consider in a good find. I have found a couple foreign silver coins as well, but not many.

Love the coin return machine!

It is a Walking Liberty half; and appears to be a 1918; again it's pretty worn right there. Sorry not photo enabled (yet). The Walking Liberty's (aka Walkers) ran from 1916 - 1947; inclusive. It was an interesting series in that they didn't mint a coin from each mint every year. In fact, there are small gaps in the late 20s and early 30s where they didn't mint any at all.

Beautiful coin though, and glad they can still be pulled from rolls.
