With only five boxes of halves ordered for me today, I had pretty low expectations. Upon cracking open the first box before leaving the bank, I had to reset. A 1964 and a 1967 ken stared back at me. I drove home, flipped over those enders, and then flipped the entire box to see if there was more silver on the other side. Two more enders, these reverse enders!

I've had a large amount of enders in recent weeks, way more than I did in prior months combined. And now I have huge expectations, as I've never had a box with four enders before. I open the ender rolls first like I always do. Two of them were 90% kens, two of them were 40% kens...but only one roll had another silver in it besides the ender. I tried to stay positive, but it certainly was deflating. Well, ends up the box was only good for 9 90% kens and 16 40% kens. I know 25 keepers is a great box, but that one sure left me wanting more!

The second box had another 40% ender, but it only gave up three 40% kens. Third box was a skunk. Fourth box had one 40% ken. Fifth box gave up 10 40% kens, including the brightest 1965 ken I've seen yet. That's funny, because just earlier in the day I was wondering when the last time was that I saw a 1965 ken. Besides a few imperfections on the face, the coin looks fresh from a mint set.

So the total for five boxes of halves was 9 90% kens and 30 40% kens, almost 8 silvers per box average. I also got a few boxes and bags of other denominations to try to make up for the three boxes of halves I am no longer able to order from one of my former regular pick up banks. I got a bag of quarters - skunk. I got a bag of nickels - one war nickel. I got two boxes of dimes. The first was a skunk. The second gave up three silver roosies and an absolutely mangled coin. I couldn't make out what it was, so I just kept it until I got some better lighting. I figured it out, and I think you can too from this photo.

Low volume week continued with two boxes of halves today. Result of the two boxes: 1 Ben, 4 90% kens, and 16 40% kens...and not an ender between the two boxes and three silvers in one roll. Results for the seven boxes this week: 1 Ben, 13 90% kens, and 46 40% kens.
Not a good time to decrease the volume! These 7-box weeks will be my slowest weeks of hunting until I figure out some new pick ups.

FYI - I prefer saying "40% kens" over any other term.

wrong- generally speaking a 40% can relate mainly to kens, however, in 1976 they came out with a special 40% silver set that inculded a 40% bicentennial quarter, a 40% bicentennial half and a 40% bicentennial dollar. They also made ikes in 40% some years, so even though this is a half dollar post, 40% can be referred to any of these denominations: quarter, half dollar and dollar.

The bicentennial is still a kennedy isnt it? And ya an Ike but like you said its not a half- Honestly I didnt know if he thought maybe there where other coins like a franklin or something that had 40%

Yes, a bicentennial is still a ken. Like I said, they made special 40% silver quarters, halves and dollars in 1976 but those were not intended for circulation.

The day I say "40% Ben" is the day you can correct me. Today though, I think you just felt like being facetious.

I think one of the New Jersey hunters found a 40% Ben recently
