Took the last of the backlog to the casino teller's cage tonight, preparatory to the buffet and a movie and whatever else might strike our fancy. Got to talking to the teller and the lovely bride happens to tell her I ended up with a silver war nickel last week when I cashed in my ticket for what the slots allowed me to walk away with. Luckily it was not a whole dollar amount. Any way, I digress.

The teller volunteers that they see "whole rolls" of silver dimes on occasion and that some of the tellers hunt silver on the job as a result. Then she further volunteers that her boyfriend has a 'medicine bottle" full of old silver halves that he specifically warned her not to cash in. My dump was mostly halves but well mixed with the remains of my other hunts as well, from cents to quarters.

So now you know. It is in the hands of geriatric hoarders with a itch to gamble. I'm not sure if I believed it when she said some of other tellers collect, or just hunt and cash in. Might have to chat them up some more to find out.

Oh, and I think I may be able to get more info, etc in return for a magician's coin. She never seen one and I happen to have one to spare that's not needed for the collection. Time will tell.

I just found out from a teller that a national retailer doesn't have employee's count coins that they hand roll. They weigh them to make sure they are good. The teller sold me a dime roll that was so full of dimes it could barely be folded over. I got 62 clad dimes from that roll. Now I will be back every week and ask for that retailers dimes again. Wouldn't a 62 coin dime roll weigh over?
