So several weeks back I found a 1912 v-nickel in a nickel box. it was in G-6 condition and not worth much. Well I went to my LCS today to see if I could trade it for an 1800's v-nickel that I did not have in my collection yet. I went in and he handed me a jar with about 30 nickels in it and said switch it out with which ever you would like. Obviously I look for the elusive 1885 and 1886 nickels along with the 1912-S. Low and behold sitting in that jar was a 1912-S:hello2:. The S was slightly smugged and filled in, so I'm sure he thought that it was a D:laughing7:. Well I picked it out and traded my 1$ v-nickel for the VG 1912-S, worth $240 :headbang:(red book value). With only 238,000 minted it is indeed an amazing find.

Following this trade I had 7 1964 dimes I was looking to trade out for missing dates to fill my book. I finally found the 1955-P and got a 1937 merc, along with 5 other rossies for my collection.

And to top it all off I found these two beauties. A 1876 Carson City Dime for only $11 (worth $35 in red book), and an amazing 1835 bust half dime for only $20 (worth $110 in red book).

That definitely is a 1912-S, the "s" being badly worn down, but you can still see the beginning and ending tails of the S. Good swap-a-roo, and a good eye.
