My daughter and I were out hitting a few banks today and our LCS as well. Did get a BU 1970 D 40% silver half for $3.00 from my favorite LCS... pretty happy about that one! Then we had lunch and saw a Roadrunner bird by the restaurant (picture one). My daughter tells me they are supposed to be good luck, man was she right!
We hit one last bank after lunch that was in a local Albertsons Grocery Store, and I asked for halves (I just got a three silver halves here last week including a Franklin). Well, the first teller didn't have any, but the guy one spot over said he had $5.50 in halves. Then he said "you are going to like these, some are old.... Like in the 1960s." I thought, cool, maybe a couple of 40%ers. So, I gave him $6 in FRNs and moved over to his station. He handed me the halves, and sure enough I could see some silver ones. Sweet! Then he handed me two 90% Washington Quarters for change!!!! He said "The same lady brought these in as brought in the halves." I looked in his tray and say a long line of solid silver rims in the quarter slot, I almost had a stroke right there, but I played it cool and asked if I could buy the rest of the quarters? He said no problem, and the rest is history...
23 silver Washington's, one lone 1964 Kennedy and four 40 % JFKs. Silver porn is below. I guess the Roadrunner worked! That is more silver quarters in one score than I have found in my entire CRHing career. A nice ending to November's CRHing numbers. It's still out there, and be nice to those tellers!!!
