January, 2014 - Hoping to have a good year, EE's log

Hit an auction in Tonganoxie Kansas on the 1st of the year, picked up a bag with some foreign coin but more importantly, made a contact. Going down tomorrow to meet with this 61 year old lady who has some coins her mom left her in the 90's when she passed away. I am going to search her collection and either buy specific coins off of her or try to buy the entire lot for a price. We will see what she wants to do. She has stated she wants to get rid of all of them and buying the complete lot would be in my best interest. She also has a large number of foreign coins and some silverware as well so perhaps I will find me some goodies.

Today I have an auction that may or may not have sterling there, at least it looks like possibly a couple candle sticks.

As for the CRH Front.

6 boxes of Brinks halves done in the first week, 2/40% and 3/Franklins

20 rolls of CWR dimes netted me nothing.

Fridays auction got me a sterling bracelet and I purchased a lot of earrings stuck to some foam. After searching through about 200 earrings I came up with about 2 grams of 14k gold worth $45 or so, not bad for a $1 investment.

I also found a bracelet marked 18kt. It may or may not be, my tester is out of gel, I need to order some more so I wont be able to test it right away. The color looks right and its got some weight so it might be. I also nabbed what I think might be a 14k womans watch, it has no backing and no markings but it has a diamond in the bezel and I have yet to see a watch like that which isnt gold. Hopefully I can use the diamond from this one to put in my other one so I can sell it on Ebay.

Between Working my 9-5, Going to 4+ auctions a week and starting up a booth/shop in a friends store, I have been quite busy so not much story telling, just numbers. Sorry.

This month is starting out quite well and hopefully it continues on its current track. I will have not one day off from work or auctions this week. I have a full month so it should be quite profitable. I am raising my goals for gold from 2 oz a year to 5 oz. My Silver goals will currently stay at 4oz a week since I do plan on reselling some of my purchases from auctions. I have some big auctions due this month and I am adding a new Ebay section to my monthly list. Lets see if I can keep up with it all, while looking for another house to purchase since the one fell through and renting a portion of a shop to run all the while doing CRH and working a 9-5 job.

Auction on Saturday netted me quite a bit but at quite a price. I ended up having to pay dearly for the lot of dimes, quarters and 1oz rounds but I did so for a couple reasons. Reason $1, I think I can still make my money back on them and reason 2, I didnt want some Asshat who was there to walk away with anything. Perhaps he wont show up anymore and in the long run I will save money. I also spied some higher end coins in the lots, medium priced but worth well more than melt.
