I picked up 5 plastic wrapped (Brinks?) nickel rolls from my regular bank and was suprised to find a Indian head on the end! Then I noticed the 'End the Fed' counterstamped Jefferson on the end of another roll! When I opened the rolls up, another Buffalo appeared. My first Buffalo nickels finds in recent years and a 'Ron Paul 2012' obverse, 'End the Fed' reverse counterstamped nickel.

Those r some great finds from just 5 rolls. Too bad u didn't buy more of those rolls. That Ron Paul End the Fed nic is pretty cool.....that's definitely a keeper too. I'd like to stamp End the Fed on all my currency. ;D

That's pretty neat, out of 5 rolls you scored 2 buffalo nickels... I wonder what the rest of the box may have contained.

Thanks, I'm going to check back with that specific teller and purchase any remaining rolls from that batch. Perhaps this is all random but I gone a long time without seeing any buffalo nickels ... and now to get 2 in 5 rolls does make you wonder. There were only 3 40s/50s Jeffersons in those 5 rolls.

Doesn't Congress control the coining of money, though?

If he really wanted to spread the message, they should have stamped it on the paper currency. :laughing7:

I would imagine passing off a dollar stamped that would be much harder since you can just run a counter stamped coin through the coin counter without anybody noticing or saying anything.

Follow up, today I picked up 25 additional plastic wrapped rolls from the same teller; she said they were from the same box as the previous 5 rolls.
In that 25 rolls my son and I found 3 more buffalos and 2 silver war nickels! Also 4 other 40s and 12 50s ... definitely a nice box!

That really is a nice box, i'd go back again and see if you could buy a box or 2 from the vault.

BuffaloBoy, I decided to try your suggestion, so I went back to this same bank and purchased an unopened $100 box. Well, it doesn't seem to be related to those previous rolls. 19 keepers seems pretty low, here's the breakdown:
2- 39
5- 40 (1 is XF)
1- 40S
2- 41
1- 43S silver!
1- 48D
1- 51D
1- 53D
2- 58D
2- 59D

2 more buffalos, one in decent shape, turned up in 10 plastic wrapped rolls from the same bank as previous finds in this thread. Also two 40s, a 41, and a 49 but nothing in the 50s. There were two 2009-D as well which is about the typical find rate for those.

Just a word of warning......you're likely to get a lot of contradictory theories from what u read from your clueless Keynesian econ professors in college. But it may not be too much longer before the reality of our economy forces people to finally realize what complete nonsense the Keynesian economic theory actually is.
