Skunks Galore... BUT Found My First Commemorative... Won't find another one of these!

Been through 40+ boxes of halves this year with a 90% skunk rate (found a total of 7 silver coins). It has been a brutal year thus far. However, yesterday, out popped this beauty. It is my most valuable coin I have found so far, and by FARRRRRRR the lowest mintage!

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come... I need to find some silver here at some point!!! Geez!

Happy Hunting!

Dang thats worse than my finds-up till this weekend- all I can say is way too many new people coming in to the hobby and not enough collections being dumped means skunks galore

Pretty neat, but I too would rather have a 40% than that :) Although Ive had decent luck selling some of the clad comm's i find for 10-25 a pop...

The finds are getting less and less, atleast for me... I did great until november, but december on has been real bad... not even worth it most of the time.

I would DEFINITELY take this commem over ANY silver. This is easily a $25-30+ coin!

Iamrussell, I definitely feel your pain this year. Last year, over about 200 boxes, I averaged over 1.5 silvers a box (this was helped by the 57 silvers found in one box, but still, the finds were very consistent last year). January has been absolutely brutal for me.

Hopefully it turns around, but this commemorative helped a ton!

I have been through over $30k of dimes/nickels/halves this year with a total of 3.66 oz of ag! Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is awesome, I would take that commemorative over 40% silver halves all day long.

Unc commemoratives like proofs are only valuable if they are undamaged, MS 65 ot PF 65 or better.
I cant tell from Pic, if they are any dings or scratches.

I prefer the uncirculated version of the commemorative halves, they generally have a much lower mintage.

That may be true, but I'd love to find one, dings, scratches and all.
