Error cent?

I found this 2004 that seems to have rims that are too tall for the coin. The coin's design is very weak and the rim is uneven in some areas. I compared it the rim to a normal 2013 cent. Is this an error?

I think it may be a broadstrike error. I have a 1988 quarter just like it.

I don't think its an error... I think its been done outside the mint. I think someone hammered the edges like you would to make a coin ring. You can almost see the hammer marks in the last picture, I think.

The rims are still wider than a normal coin though.

If I understand you correctly, the rim is wider because someone hammered on the ends, causing the coin to curl out on the edge.

It does not curl anywhere, the rim is taller than a normal coin.

This was a struck through die cap I found.Looks a lot like the one you've got.
The other side of my coin looked like a normal cent though.

Put the coin on top of a normal cent and see if it is smaller in circumference, if so it has been rolled under pressure or hammered to enlarge the rim, if it is the same size as a normal cent then you may have something else.To me in the pictures it looks a bit smaller.IMO

I agree! We really need better and closeup pics of the coin and pics with it compared to a normal Lincoln Memorial Cent (i.e. beside and on top of). The possiblities are a man made Error to appear like a Brockage (Capped Die Strike) or it is a genuine Brockage.

Sigh, when you hammer the edge/rim of the coin to make a ring.. It curls the coin edge/rim out causing it to be "taller" the more you hammer.... I presume the diameter is smaller than a normal cent too, another sign it was hammered... See picture....

The diameter is the same size as a normal coin. I'll probably take it somewhere to get looked at this weekend or next.

That looks more like a magicians coin in my opinion.
