Really sweet find! Makes you wonder about the hole and when/how it got there.

Congrats! She's a beaut despite the hole. It could have been hung from a chain or maybe a string of coins.

Yinzi50,
That is a great find. The hole was probably made by someone who gave it to his girlfriend to wear
on a chain. Gives it real character and you will often wonder who wore it. Congrats,
rileyboy

Very cool art piece you found! I'd put it on a sterling jump ring and then a nice sterling chain. What an awesome way to showcase your love of coins!

It could have been sewn in someone's clothing, and the edge around the hole cut the thread... Very cool find!!!

The hole is likely historical and not decorative. Back then they punched holes in coins to put thread through and tie to the inside of their clothing so they won't lose them. I mean just imagine what that would look like on a necklace, haha..?? :icon_scratch: If worn with obverse showing then she has no head. If worn reverse showing then the eagle would be upside down. :dontknow: So it makes sense it was done so they would not lose it. I think it gives the coin a historic type of value, but everyone else will tell you its valueless because of the hole. I strongly disagree, I think its awesome history....

Great find !!
Keep @ it and HH !! :hello2:

Very nice find Yinzi! Still waiting to join that club myself, I've had a few hair cuts now, but haven't had a seat yet. HH, Maverick.
